Job description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects in the Montreal area. The Superintendent will be responsible for the day-to-day on-site management, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities from start to completion

  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and site personnel

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and short-term work plans (look-ahead schedules)

  • Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, building codes, and safety regulations

  • Enforce site health & safety standards in accordance with CNESST requirements

  • Conduct daily site inspections and toolbox meetings

  • Monitor work quality and productivity; address deficiencies promptly

  • Coordinate inspections and ensure timely resolution of deficiencies

  • Maintain accurate site documentation (daily reports, manpower logs, progress photos)

  • Communicate regularly with the Project Manager regarding progress, issues, and risks

  • Manage site logistics, deliveries, and site access

  • Participate in project meetings and client walkthroughs

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience as a Site Superintendent in commercial projects

  • Proven experience managing projects such as office fit-outs, retail, institutional, or mixed-use commercial buildings

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and building systems

  • Solid understanding of Quebec building codes and construction regulations

  • CNESST health & safety training (ASP Construction – mandatory)

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules

  • Strong leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills

Language Requirements
  • French: mandatory (spoken and written)

  • English: functional to fluent (for coordination with clients, consultants, or suppliers)

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with construction management tools (Procore, MS Project, or similar – asset)

  • Comfortable with digital reporting and documentation
