Job description

About the Role
Are you an organized, proactive construction professional looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will work directly with our talented Project Management Team on high-end residential and commercial projects to drive them from preconstruction through to successful closeout.
As an APM, you will be the backbone of project administration, ensuring accurate data in Buildertrend, managing subcontractor compliance, keeping schedules tightly updated, and anticipating project needs before they arise. If you have a keen eye for detail, a sense of urgency, and a passion for making your team's life easier, we want to hear from you.
Primary Responsibilities
Your day-to-day will involve a mix of project coordination, technology management, and team collaboration:
  • Project Controls & Scheduling: Build out, maintain, and regularly update comprehensive project schedules with accurate task logic. Monitor daily job progress and review field logs for completeness.
  • Estimating & Procurement: Support the estimating process by organizing and inputting bid data. Review project drawings, verify material lists, issue purchase orders, and coordinate directly with vendors and subcontractors to ensure order accuracy and timely delivery.
  • Financial & Compliance Tracking: Conduct regular audits of project financials, labor tracking, and invoicing. Monitor subcontractor compliance-including insurance and licensing documentation-and assist with monthly client billing and invoicing processes.
  • Technology & Systems Management: Utilize company project management software to maintain accurate project data, track permits, enter scope details, and leverage new technology updates to optimize team workflows.
  • Communication & Support: Document key takeaways during client and internal stakeholder meetings. Assist with site visits, research project materials, and compile comprehensive project closeout documentation.

Key Competencies
To thrive in this role, you must be:
  • Detail-Oriented & Organized: You notice the little things and thrive on keeping project data immaculate.
  • A Proactive Communicator: You are responsive, effective, and professional via email, phone, and in person.
  • Tech-Savvy: You lean into modern construction tech to optimize workflows.
  • Adaptable: You handle task prioritization with ease in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • An Engaged Learner: You eagerly participate in internal training and strive to constantly improve company processes.

Recommended Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Experience: 2-4 years of experience in construction project coordination, project administration, or an assistant PM role.
  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (or equivalent field/industry experience) preferred.

Technical Skills
  • Construction Software: Proficiency with Buildertrend (or similar PM software like Procore/CoConstruct) is highly preferred.
  • Digital Tools: Strong proficiency with Bluebeam Revu (or similar PDF takeoff tools) and Hover.
  • Office Productivity: Above-average computer skills, specifically within Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and Microsoft Office.

Industry Knowledge
  • Solid understanding of industry-standard construction processes, design drawings, and scopes of work.
  • Familiarity with subcontractor compliance, building permits, and basic construction financial reporting (Cost Plus / Percent Complete).

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary of between $60,000 - $70,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Medical coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Company-sponsored life insurance
  • Paid time off & holidays
  • Monday - Friday schedule
  • A collaborative, team-oriented work environment
