To make a true difference for our customers - and to save more lives, we need team players, forward thinkers, and game changers.
Are you looking for an inspiring career? You just found it.
This role is open to US based candidates
Paragonix Technologies markets organ transportation devices that safeguard organs during the journey between donor and recipient patients. Our devices incorporate clinically proven and medically trusted cold preservation techniques in a novel suspension system to provide unprecedented physical and thermal protection. Our product portfolio spans cardiac, thoracic, and abdominal preservation devices to improve donor organ quality and extend donor organ transport time. Paragonix also markets transplant services and organ screening to the transplant community.
Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Engineer with a strong background in perfusion models and transplant preservation devices. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and validating perfusion models to assess the effectiveness of our transplant preservation technologies. You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure our devices meet the highest standards for clinical application and performance.
This role requires a blend of engineering expertise, clinical understanding, and hands-on interaction with customers to fine-tune and validate our devices in real-world clinical settings. This role will report to the R&D department.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Perfusion Model Setup and Development:
    • Design, set up, and maintain perfusion models that simulate human organ preservation processes.
    • Efforts will initially start in liver assessment but will expand to include other major organs.
    • Work closely with R&D, Product Management, and clinical teams to refine perfusion models that accurately mimic transplant conditions.
    • Conduct experiments to assess and optimize the functionality of transplant preservation devices using these models.

Device Validation and Performance Assessment:
    • Conduct testing and simulations using perfusion models to assess device efficacy, particularly in organ preservation. Specific activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
      • Supporting pre-clinical studies, including protocol execution, data collection, and site coordination
      • Monitor and record physiological parameters (flow rate, pressure, temperature, pH, etc.) during perfusion procedures.
      • Perform calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment related to organ perfusion.
      • Prepare reagents, buffers, and perfusates as needed for experiments.
      • Collect and process biological samples (e.g., tissue biopsies, perfusate) for downstream analyses.
    • Analyze and document results, providing actionable insights to internal teams for product improvement. Specific activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
      • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, logs, and documentation.
      • Support data collection, entry, and preliminary analysis for scientific reporting and publication development.
      • Analyze physiological, metabolic, and device performance data

Customer Interaction and Support:
    • Stay up to date on the latest research presented at conferences and in literature on organ preservation and ex-vivo perfusion models.

Clinical and Regulatory Support:
    • Support research efforts to build evidence for device efficacy and safety.
    • Contribute to the preparation of abstracts, manuscripts, and technical documentation for regulatory submissions and product launches.

Collaboration and Cross-Functional Teamwork:
    • Work closely with the product management, R&D, clinical, and marketing teams to ensure a seamless integration of clinical needs with product design and performance.
    • Assist in translating clinical data into actionable improvements for future device iterations.

Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or a related field. A PhD is a plus.

    Experience:
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in clinical engineering, with a focus on perfusion models, transplant preservation, or related medical device fields.
    • Hands-on experience with experimental setup, validation, and optimization of medical devices in a clinical or laboratory environment.

    Other Requirements:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for customer interaction, training, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
    • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
