Job description

The Holiday Inn Express amp; Suites and Candlewood Suites Lenexa is looking for our next Dual Assistant Chief Engineer.
BASIC PURPOSE: The Assistant Chief Maintenance Engineer assists the Chief
Maintenance Engineer in overseeing the maintenance, repair, safety, and preventative
maintenance programs for the hotel. This position supports the operation of all building
systems, guest rooms, public areas, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe, efficient,
and well-maintained property. The Assistant Chief Maintenance Engineer provides
leadership to maintenance team members, assists with departmental administration,
and serves as acting department head in the absence of the Chief Maintenance
Engineer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist in planning, directing, and supervising daily maintenance operations,
ensuring timely completion of work orders and preventative maintenance tasks.
2. Perform and oversee repairs and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical,
mechanical, life safety, and building systems.
3. Conduct inspections of guest rooms, public areas, exterior grounds, and back-ofhouse
areas to identify maintenance needs and ensure brand standards are
maintained.
4. Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs to
maximize equipment life and reduce operational disruptions.
5. Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate maintenance staff; provide direction and
support to ensure productivity and quality workmanship.
6. Respond to emergency maintenance situations, guest requests, equipment
failures, and safety concerns in a timely and professional manner.
7. Assist with vendor coordination, contractor oversight, project management, and
capital improvement initiatives.
8. Monitor inventory levels and assist with purchasing supplies, tools, equipment,
and parts necessary for department operations.
9. Maintain maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, safety logs, and
compliance documentation.
Non- Essential Functions:
1. Assist other departments during high occupancy periods or emergency situations.
2. Participate in property committees, meetings, and training sessions.
3. Support sustainability, energy conservation, and cost-control initiatives.
4. Perform special projects as assigned by hotel management.
Job Specifications (Knowledge/Skills):
Education: High school diploma required. Two years post high school education
preferred.
Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in a similar role for this company or
other organization. Supervisory experience required.
No. of employees supervised: 0-2 employees
Travel required: Minimal, training classes, vendors, task force, etc.
Hours Required: 40-50 hours over a five-day period. May include nights,
holidays, weekends if issues arise that need immediate attention.
