Summary/Objectives:

Overall management responsibility of Owen Industries’ structural fabrication operations including production, project management, engineering, and detailing operations.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • The recruitment, training, management and motivation of engineering, project management and detailing personnel.
  • Shared bottom line responsibility for structural fabrication P&L performance with Structural Fabrication Sales Manager and President of Owen Industries.
  • To develop strategic business plans and annual budgets in conjunction with the Structural Fabrication Sales Manager and President of Owen Industries.
  • To assist Owen Industries in the development/implementation of processes/systems to accurately collect shop production data in order to compare actual vs. estimated job costs.
  • The engineering design and support for structural fabrication projects.
  • To develop a shop loading system to support the sales and production planning process.
  • The supervision of the project management process.
  • To work in close co-operation with internal departments.
  • To communicate with customers on contract commitment and execution.
  • To provide sales support through the provision of technical information and representation to prospective customers.
  • To support the PVS commitment to the AISC.

  • To work within budget parameters.
  • To assist in the achievement of continual improvements in the production process and the quality of the product.
  • To participate in and support Continuous Improvement Programs, HR and other company initiatives.
  • To carry out duties in accordance with ISO standards and other company procedures.
