Bureau Veritas is looking for a Sample Archivist to join our environmental laboratory in Ville Saint-Laurent.

Please note that this is a contract position until Mid-December. There is a possibility of extension (depending on business needs and your performance).

Your main responsibilities are:

    • Management of all sample placement, archiving, retrieval and disposal;
    • Maintain all coldrooms in order and clean;
    • Daily placement of soil and water samples according to numerical order of job numbers
    • Daily disposal of samples that have reached their disposal date;
    • Organize the storage of samples for clients and contracts that require that we retain samples for a longer period;
    • Retrieving samples that are in storage for additional analyses;
    • Responsible for the placement and retrieval of samples in legal cabinet;
    • Maintenance of the crusher equipment;
    • Inform clients in writing and wait for confirmation prior to disposal of samples that were requested for extended storage;
    • Maintain all disposal, retain, client and toxic lists in binders for reference;
    • Work closely with project managers to determine when samples need to be disposed, retained, or returned to client;
    • Working with customer service group- sample entry and project managers to provide client with very good service in the shortest delay;
    • Follow the Standard Operating Procedure established by  Bureau Veritas for the archiving and disposal of samples;
    • Monitor and record temperatures of coldrooms and sample entry fridges daily in logbooks;
    • Maintenance and organisation of the back warehouse section, keep all corridors clear;
    • Assist in the preparation and shipment of sampling containers to clients in an organized, professional and time efficient manner when required;
    • Adhere to and participate with all quality assurance policies and procedures of the organisation;
    • Maintain employee file up to date.

You are an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have a High School diploma;

  • Have experience working in a fast paced environment and under pressure;

  • Are able to work independently and as part of a team;

  • Have good record keeping skills and attention to detail;

  • Have the ability to accurately follow Standard operating Procedures (SOP's) and instructions;

  • Are dynamic, energetic, motivated, positive outlook.


Work conditions:

  • Work schedule: day AND evening, including weekend;

  • You need to be available for overtime during the peak season (1-2h/day) from May to December including a 6th day during the week;

  • Please note that flexibility for overtime is required to meet business needs. It's important to note that overtime is not optional in this role. You will be expected to work the additional hours as directed by your supervisor, even if the need arises unexpectedly on a given day;

  • Status: Full time, 37.5h/week;

  • Ability to work your feet for long hours.
