Payroll Administrator (Healthcare Industry)
Location: Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid)
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flexibility available)
Employment Type: Direct hire
Compensation: $32-$36/hour (DOE)
Introduction
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join a growing healthcare organization in Phoenix. This hybrid, contract-to-hire role is ideal for professionals with at least 3 years of payroll experience who excel in fast-paced, evolving environments. You will oversee payroll operations for over 100 employees across multiple entities, with continued growth expected. This position offers strong long-term potential, with a clear path into accounting or HR leadership within the next 1-2 years.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process multi-entity payroll for 100+ employees with accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage multiple payroll cycles, including varied pay schedules across states
  • Administer employee reimbursements, HSA contributions, and benefits deductions
  • Review and validate provider compensation, bonuses, and agreement changes
  • Set up new hires including payroll profiles, benefits, 401(k), and garnishments
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries related to reimbursements, HSA, and pay discrepancies
  • Audit payroll data to ensure proper wage coding and compliance
  • Support AP, AR, and other accounting-related functions as needed
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and assist with reporting
  • Adapt quickly to changing systems, processes, and organizational needs
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-entity or healthcare environment
  • Experience with Paychex strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or related field required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Proven ability to manage high-volume inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Comfortable navigating change and pivoting quickly as systems and processes evolve
  • Experience with provider compensation, reimbursements, and benefits administration a plus
