Job description

Job Summary

A commercial real estate investment company based in Boca Raton, Florida is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to fill the position of Senior Tax Accountant. This role will be essential in the preparation, review & filing of our company's Federal and State income tax returns. The position will work directly with our Tax Director and assist in multiple projects throughout the year.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare and review Federal & State income tax returns (various entity types, 30+ states)
  • Respond to tax notices received from Federal & State agencies
  • Assist in preparation and coordination tax analysis of various capital improvements across the portfolio
  • Train and assist accounting staff - year end income tax workpapers
  • Research on-going tax issues and new developments
  • Special projects

Qualifications and Skills

  • 7+ years of income tax preparation in public accounting with an emphasis on Trusts, Sub S, and Partnerships/LLCs
  • Experience with multiple states (5+) including PTET, WH, Composite returns/credits/payments
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with personnel at all levels of the Organization, and also independently
  • Must be detail oriented and able to adhere to deadlines
  • Highly motivated, professional, and hard working
  • ProSystem and Yardi experience a plus
  • CPA preferred, but not required

Experience

  • The preferred candidate will have 7+ years of public accounting experience, a strong understanding of Trust, Sub S, and Partnership/LLC taxation, and experience with multiple state returns.
  • The ideal candidate is well versed in tax research, skilled at multi-tasking, able to take directions (but also be able to work independently).

Job Type

Full-time. We work 65 hours/week for Tax Season January-April, but typically only regular office hours the rest of the year. This is an in-office position.
