Assistant Key Account Manager
Position Description
Summary
The Assistant Key Account Manager supports the retention and profitable growth of Crystal Flash’s key accounts while directly managing selected customer relationships. This position serves as a day-to-day point of contact, coordinates solutions across departments, supports proposals and contract activity, and identifies opportunities to expand products and services. The role is designed to develop the account-management skills needed to assume greater responsibility for complex, multi-location customers over time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day relationships for assigned accounts and support the Key Account Manager with larger, multi-location, or contract-based customers. Learn each customer’s business, requirements, decision process, and growth opportunities.
  • Develop relationships with buyers, managers, site contacts, and other key influencers. Help expand relationships within customer organizations and reinforce Crystal Flash as a trusted partner.
  • Identify, research, and qualify prospective leads for both the Key Account Manager and Assistant Account Manager by evaluating potential opportunities and ensuring they align with company sales objectives.
  • Find, research, and qualify new sales leads for the Key Account Manager and Assistant Account Manager.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified prospects through market research, networking, referrals, and CRM tools.
  • Verify prospect information, identify decision-makers, and assess opportunities before handing them off for sales engagement.
  • Schedule introductory meetings and coordinate lead handoffs to support account growth.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve customer needs and implement solutions, including onboarding new accounts and locations. Elevate strategic, contractual, pricing, or non-standard matters to the Key Account Manager.
  • Support responses to RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs by gathering requirements, coordinating internal input, preparing proposal materials, tracking deadlines, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer meetings and business reviews. Compile account performance, volume, margin, service, and opportunity information and coordinate follow-up actions.
  • Assist with pricing reviews, contract renewals, account expansions, and negotiations. Prepare supporting analysis and help ensure commitments are communicated and implemented.
  • Identify growth opportunities within assigned accounts and research prospective customers. Attend customer events, trade shows, and other sales activities as assigned.
  • Use Microsoft Dynamics CRM and other company systems to document customer contacts, activities, opportunities, proposals, contracts, and follow-up commitments.
  • Provide timely reports and account updates to the Key Account Manager and company leadership, including customer concerns, account performance, growth opportunities, and action items.
  • Stay informed about Crystal Flash products and services, market developments, and competitors. Apply this knowledge to anticipate customer needs and recommend practical solutions.

    General Requirements, Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in account management, business-to-business sales, customer service, sales support, or a related client-facing role.
  • Experience in fuels, propane, lubricants, transportation, distribution, or another service-intensive industry is preferred.
