GENERAL SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Senior Asset Protection Manager, the Asset Protection Agent serves as a key member of the Risk Management Department, responsible for supporting the organizationโ€™s efforts to deter and prevent theft, fraud, and loss of company assets across retail locations. This role involves proactive observation, investigation, and enforcement of company policies while maintaining a strong focus on safety, integrity, and customer service.


The Asset Protection Agent upholds and promotes the Mission, Vision, and Values of the organization at all times, ensuring that all actions align with company standards and legal guidelines.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


โ€ข Monitor, report, and address physical security concerns that may pose risks to employees, customers, or company assets.

โ€ข Conduct covert surveillance and apprehend individuals suspected of shoplifting in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.

โ€ข Serve as a visible deterrent to theft by maintaining a professional presence and engaging with customers on the sales floor when not working in a covert capacity.

โ€ข Collaborate with store management to identify habitual offenders and issue verbal or written trespass notices as appropriate.

โ€ข Detain and process individuals involved in significant theft incidents or repeat offenses for prosecution in coordination with local law enforcement.

โ€ข Partner with law enforcement agencies to support investigations and prosecutions of criminal activity involving company assets.

โ€ข Maintain thorough knowledge of legal standards related to citizen arrests and ensure all apprehensions are performed within those boundaries.

โ€ข Prepare detailed and accurate reports and documentation for both internal records and responding law enforcement agencies.

โ€ข Conduct all apprehensions and investigations with employee safety as the highest priority, adhering strictly to company policies and procedures.

โ€ข Conduct follow-up investigations on theft incidents and fraud cases, in coordination with internal teams.

โ€ข Utilize CCTV and other surveillance tools to monitor high-risk areas and identify suspicious activity.

โ€ข Gather and preserve evidence (video footage, witness statements, reports) for legal or internal review.

โ€ข Identify, observe, and report unsafe conditions or practices to Store Management and the Senior Director of Asset Protection.

โ€ข Observe and report any employee violations of company policies or procedures to the appropriate management personnel.

โ€ข Assist with employee bag checks and personal property inspections in partnership with Store Management and the Senior Director of Asset Protection.

โ€ข Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:


โ€ข Minimum of one yearโ€™s experience in retail Asset Protection-related field.

โ€ข Flexible working hours to include evenings and weekends.

โ€ข Strong understanding of theft deterrence strategies and investigative techniques.

โ€ข Working knowledge of relevant laws and procedures concerning theft prevention and detainment.

โ€ข PC proficiency using Word and Excel; experience with using the Internet and Outlook is a must.

โ€ข Must possess excellent organizational skills and effective time management.

โ€ข Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

โ€ข Excellent writing skills with good grammar and English.

โ€ข Must have the ability to work in a diverse and accelerated environment with ingenuity and flexibility.?

โ€ข Must have the ability to follow directions accurately and complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

โ€ข Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.

โ€ข Must have a valid California driverโ€™s license.

โ€ข Must pass drug screening and criminal background check.

โ€ข Must not present a direct threat of safety and health to self, others or property.

โ€ข Must immediately inform Supervisor of any arrests and/or convictions that occur while employed at Goodwill.
