This person will be working Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3:30 PM (30 min lunch break) at the Plainfield Warehouse.

Job Title: Asset Management / Inventory Control Specialist (IT Warehouse)

Position Overview

The Asset Management / Inventory Control Specialist supports IT operations by managing the intake, tracking, storage, and lifecycle of technology assets within a warehouse environment. This role combines hands-on warehouse work with IT asset tracking responsibilities, ensuring that equipment is accurately received, tagged, recorded, stored, and distributed across the organization.

This position operates in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and requires strong attention to detail, technical awareness, and the ability to work across multiple systems.

Key Responsibilities

Asset Receiving & Processing

Receive incoming IT equipment shipments (laptops, monitors, peripherals, etc.)

Break down pallets and verify shipment accuracy against purchase orders

Process receipts in Oracle to ensure vendors can be paid

Identify discrepancies and escalate as needed

Asset Tagging & Data Entry

Apply asset tags to tracked devices

Capture and align serial numbers with asset tags using Excel or internal tools

Upload asset data into systems such as Cherwell (ShareWell) and/or ServiceNow (CMDB)

Maintain accurate asset records throughout the intake process

Inventory Management & Storage

Assign and maintain warehouse storage locations (rack/shelf-based system)

Store equipment in an organized, trackable manner

Retrieve inventory based on incoming orders

Prepare and package equipment for shipment to internal customers

Order Fulfillment & Logistics

Pick, pack, and ship requested IT equipment

Coordinate with internal delivery teams and dedicated drivers

Ensure accurate documentation and tracking for all outbound shipments

Asset Lifecycle Management

Track devices throughout their lifecycle from receipt to deployment and retirement

Update asset status within IT systems

Support onboarding of assets into CMDB (ServiceNow)

Decommissioning & Disposal

Handle end-of-life equipment in a secure and compliant manner

Remove hard drives and track components in asset systems

Perform on-site data destruction (shredding or wiping)

Document disposal through internally created certificates of destruction

Support resale/recycling processes for old equipment

Repair & Refurbishment Support (as needed)

Assist with testing and cleaning of returned equipment

Support basic repair processes to return usable equipment back into inventory

Help reduce overall equipment purchasing costs through reuse

Required Skills & Qualifications

Experience in inventory, warehouse operations, or asset tracking

Basic understanding of IT hardware (laptops, monitors, peripherals)

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and handle physical inventory

Comfortable working with spreadsheets (Excel) and inventory systems

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a manual, process-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with IT asset management tools (Cherwell, ServiceNow, CMDB)

Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle preferred)

Experience with barcode or asset tagging processes

Basic scripting or data upload experience (for advanced roles)

Prior experience in IT, desktop support, or technical environments

Warehouse setting with racking systems and equipment storage

• Type of work – warehouse labor

o breaking down shipments from pallets,

o using provided tools and software to scan devices and enter them into the data base

o stocking items on shelves

o moving pallets about warehouse with pallet jack – potential forklift with provided training

o picking items as directed

o packing items for shipping

o Must be able to lift 75 lbs and be on their feet for their work shift

o Perform inventory audits as directed

o Other duties as assigned

• Hours of work – Monday – Friday day shift hours 7AM – 3:30PM is ideal (we can be flexible)

• Break schedule – half hour lunch – morning and afternoon 15 minute break

• OT requirement – possible OT as needed

• Dress code – Khakis and polo shirt

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr.
