Job description

CWM is seeking Experienced Asphalt Screed operator to join our team immediately. The Asphalt Screed operator 's primary responsibility is to adjust the screed height on the paving machine to ensure proper depth, grade, and finish of the asphalt. The role is critical to ensuring the consistency of the asphalt mat and the overall ride quality of the finished pavement. The Asphalt Screed operator will also be responsible for daily maintenance of tools and proper storage at the end of each shift. Additionally, the Asphalt Screed operator will assist with the general operations of each job site.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Adjust the screed height on the paving machine to ensure the proper depth, grade, and finish of the asphalt.
  • Monitor and ensure the consistency of the asphalt mat and ride quality of the finished pavement.
  • Perform daily maintenance on tools and ensure all equipment is properly stored at the end of each shift.
  • Install and remove auto paving electronics as required.
  • Add and remove screed extensions when necessary.
  • Clean excess asphalt off the paver after use.
  • Check and maintain grade stakes to ensure accurate paving operations.
  • Operate additional construction equipment such as rollers, power brooms, tampers, and skid steer loaders, if qualified.
  • May be asked to drive various vehicles, including pickups, flatbeds, water trucks, as needed.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as an Asphalt Screwman or in a similar paving role.
  • Ability to adjust the screed heights accurately and maintain proper grade and finish.
  • Experience with auto paving electronics and screed extension installation/removal.
  • Skilled in maintaining the consistency of the asphalt mat and ride quality.
  • Ability to perform daily tool maintenance and ensure proper storage.
  • Experience operating rollers, power brooms, tampers, skid steer loaders, and other construction equipment.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to drive various types of trucks (pickup, flatbed and water trucks).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and assist with the general operations of the job site.
