The Culinary Arts teacher is responsible for the hands-on culinary arts program and must be passionate for culinary education, have a commitment to experiential learning, and capable of inspiring students in the area of nutrition, food systems, and culinary creativity.

Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum and provide excellent instruction
- Demonstrate sound classroom management skills
- Cultivate a positive learning environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking
- Deliver hands-on, project-based instruction that integrates work in a greenhouse setting, gardening, nutrition, sustainable cooking practices, health, and practical life skills
- Strengthen students' understanding of garden and kitchen connections
- Foster an understanding of the connection between food, health, and the environment
- Maintain the teaching kitchen, oversee the inventory and manage the program budget
- Collaborate with the Outdoor Education team to help maintain the garden
- Develop partnerships with local farms, food suppliers, and community organizations to enhance the curriculum
- Work with SBA's Outdoor Education team and STEAM team in developing a shared experience
- Maintains a professional standard of dress and an engaging personality
- Prompt and continuous attendance on campus
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to sponsor extra-curricular activities, trip(s) or classes in order to engage students and build relationships.
- Elementary classes will be offered on a rotation basis or as an extra-curricular activity.
- Willingness to obtain an ACSI certificate and be willing to pursue certification in a specified timeframe.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Hospitality Management, or related field is required. A Master's Degree is preferred.
