What You’ll Do:
Navitas is seeking a skilled Technical Writer / Editor to support enterprise data, documentation, and knowledge management initiatives within a government technology environment. This individual will assist with the development, editing, organization, and maintenance of technical and operational documentation supporting data governance, enterprise data warehouse (EDW) initiatives, operational procedures, and organizational knowledge management efforts.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical writing and editing expertise, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences. This role requires close collaboration with leadership, subject matter experts (SMEs), technical teams, and operational stakeholders supporting high-priority enterprise data initiatives.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical and operational documentation including:
    • Scopes of Work (SOWs)
    • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    • Technical guidebooks
    • User manuals
    • Training materials
    • Administrative reports
    • Knowledge base content
  • Collaborate with leadership, technical teams, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather information and develop accurate, technically sound, and user-focused documentation.
  • Translate complex technical concepts, data processes, tools, systems, and workflows into clear, accessible language suitable for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with State accessibility standards, plain language requirements, formatting guidelines, and organizational policies.
  • Create, edit, and validate documents to ensure compliance with accessibility and usability standards.
  • Manage document repositories, version control processes, and knowledge management resources supporting operational continuity and information sharing.
  • Conduct research and ensure proper technical terminology and industry standards are accurately reflected within all documentation.
  • Assist with financial and administrative documentation functions as required.
  • Support development and maintenance of organizational knowledge management resources including:
    • Wikis
    • FAQs
    • Best practice guides
    • Internal documentation repositories
  • Prepare and maintain documentation supporting enterprise data and modernization initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical guidebooks, architecture documentation, user manuals, data models, and integration process documentation supporting the Enterprise Data Warehouse environment.
  • Document operational procedures related to:
    • Data ingestion
    • Data processing
    • Reporting operations
    • Workflow management
    • Operational support activities
What You’ll Need:
  • Associate’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Information Systems, Business, English, Computer Science, or related field required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical writing, editing, documentation management, or related communications roles.
  • 2+ years of experience preparing and editing documentation supporting government data programs, enterprise IT environments, or public sector technology initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high-quality documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • IT concepts
    • Data management principles
    • Databases
    • Data warehousing concepts
    • Enterprise technology terminology
  • Experience creating and maintaining:
    • Technical documentation
    • SOPs
    • SOWs
    • User guides
    • Training materials
    • Knowledge base content
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, editing, proofreading, and document management skills.
  • Experience supporting accessibility compliance and plain language standards preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and collaborate across technical and operational teams.
  • Writing samples will be requested for candidates selected for interviews.
