Location: New York City District Council of Carpenters Training Center – New York, NY

The New York City District Council of Carpenters Training Center is seeking a versatile Cabinetmaking / Architectural Woodwork & Interior Systems Instructor - Full-Time to train apprentices and journeypersons. The majority of the workload will focus on drywall, ceilings, and health and safety, while also supporting cabinetmaking and special architectural woodwork projects in line with AWS standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Teach Interior Systems classes: drywall, ceilings, house framing, interior finish and health & safety (primary assignment).

· Teach cabinetmaking and architectural woodwork in accordance with Architectural Woodwork Standards (AWS).

· Design, engineer, and draft shop drawings from sketches and meeting conversations.

· Manage special woodwork projects for the CTC from start to finish, including design, manufacture, and installation.

· Instruct apprentices in the use of AutoCAD, VCarve, LightBurn, and related shop/CNC software.

· Demonstrate proper use of materials, including plastic laminate, solid wood, veneer, solid surface. staining, finishing, and spray application techniques.

· Instruct on the selection and installation of architectural hardware.

· Maintain a safe, organized shop and classroom, enforcing OSHA and union safety standards.

Requirements:

· Minimum 15 years journeyman-level experience in interior systems, cabinetmaking, or architectural woodwork.

· Strong knowledge of Architectural Woodwork Standards (AWS).

· Ability to engineer and draft fabrication drawings and carry projects from design through installation.

· Above-average computer skills with AutoCAD, VCarve, LightBurn, and related shop software.

· Familiarity with architectural hardware and installation practices.

· Strong communication and mentoring skills; prior teaching or training experience is a plus.

· Union member in good standing or eligible to join.

· Willingness to cross-train in multiple interior systems areas and travel to CITF for certifications.
