Job description

JOB INFORMATION This position focuses on delivering instruction within the Drafting Technology program, specifically teaching CAD-related courses, developing curriculum, and providing academic advising while maintaining professional contacts in the industry. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Instructional Program Responsibilities Develops, modifies, and updates curriculum materials and recommends course outline revisions Recommends textbooks, instructional materials, and library/reference resources Contributes suggestions for the annual department budget and maintains college facilities and equipment Assists Advisory Committees and represents the department at pertinent meetings Instruction Teaches CAD courses including architectural drafting, Revit, and AutoCAD; and other general drafting classes. Provides students with course syllabi and maintains records of grades and attendance.

Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online Teaching and Learning Values Creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness Encourages creative and critical thinking Engages participants in an active learning process Facilitates learning that applies to and enriches lives Encourages student responsibility for learning Promotes learning as a lifelong process Other Functions Posts and maintains office hours and provides academic advising/homework assistance. Stays up to date on technological changes in the subject area. Minimum Qualifications Associate of Science degree in Drafting Technology -AND- Five years of work experience as an Architectural Drafter -AND- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit software -AND- Evidence of successful previous teaching experience at the college level Core Competencies Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others Preferred Qualifications Experience with Sketchup, Microstation, ArcGIS (or equivalent), and/or Bluebeam software.

Bilingual English/Spanish ADDITIONAL INFORMATION TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT This is a 100%, 172 Duty Day faculty assignment of the F9 band and grade All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college. Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations If requested, you must supply official transcripts within 30-days of hire Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment. Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary requirements are met. PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
