Job description

The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington seeks a dynamic, mission-driven Catholic leader to serve as Assistant Director for Young Adult Ministry. Reporting to the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, this position leads efforts to support parish and regional young adult ministry, leadership formation, evangelization initiatives, retreats, discipleship groups, and Archdiocesan-wide programming for young adults.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support parish and regional young adult ministry leaders through coaching, consultation, and training.
    โ€ข Assist parishes in launching and sustaining young adult ministry initiatives, Alpha programs, small groups, and leadership teams.
    โ€ข Coordinate young adult retreats, conferences, pilgrimages, Theology-on-Tap style events, and evangelization initiatives.
    โ€ข Maintain a comprehensive directory of young adult ministries and resources throughout the Archdiocese.
    โ€ข Collaborate with campus ministries, parishes, clergy, and Catholic apostolates.
    โ€ข Recruit, train, and accompany volunteer leaders and missionary disciples.
    โ€ข Develop communication strategies that effectively reach young adults through digital and personal invitation channels.
    โ€ข Assist with budget management, logistics, and administrative responsibilities.
    โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in theology, catechetics, pastoral ministry, education, or a related field preferred. Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in Catholic ministry, education, evangelization, campus ministry, youth ministry, young adult ministry, or a related field.

Working Conditions

This position requires regular evening and weekend work, travel throughout the Archdiocese of Washington, and participation in retreats, conferences, and special events. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
