What does an arbitrator mediator do?

An Arbitrator Mediator helps resolve disputes between parties outside of court by facilitating discussions, negotiations, and agreements. Mediators guide conversations to help parties reach a voluntary settlement, while arbitrators make binding or non-binding decisions based on presented evidence. They work in areas like business, labor, family, and civil disputes. Their goal is to find fair and impartial resolutions efficiently, often saving time and legal expenses compared to litigation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an arbitrator mediator?

To thrive as an Arbitrator Mediator, you need a comprehensive understanding of dispute resolution processes, strong analytical abilities, and typically a background in law or a related field. Certification from recognized organizations such as the American Arbitration Association, and experience with case management software, are often required. Effective communication, active listening, impartiality, and conflict management are standout soft skills for this role. Mastering these abilities ensures fair, efficient resolutions and builds trust among parties while upholding legal and ethical standards.

What are some common challenges faced by arbitrator mediators in their daily work?

Arbitrator Mediators often encounter emotionally charged disputes, tight deadlines, and the need to maintain impartiality with all involved parties. Navigating complex legal or contractual issues while ensuring each party feels heard can be both challenging and rewarding. Additionally, balancing confidentiality requirements with the need for thorough documentation is a frequent aspect of the role. Being adaptable and resilient helps professionals in this field manage these challenges and facilitate successful resolutions.

Do arbitrators make good money?

Arbitrators can earn a competitive income, often based on the complexity and volume of cases they handle, with many working as independent contractors or for law firms. Salaries vary widely, with experienced arbitrators and those with specialized certifications typically earning higher fees. Income may also depend on geographic location and the arbitration setting, such as commercial or labor disputes.

How to become an arbitrator mediator?

To become an arbitrator or mediator, individuals typically need a background in law, conflict resolution, or a related field, along with experience in dispute resolution. Many pursue certification through professional organizations such as the American Arbitration Association or the Association for Conflict Resolution, which often require training, supervised practice, and adherence to ethical standards.

Job description

About the Role
NAM is seeking a Marketing Operations Specialist to support the day-to-day execution of our marketing and demand generation engine. This is a hands-on role: you'll build and send campaigns, manage lists, stand up forms and landing pages, and keep the data behind all of it clean. You'll work in HubSpot building workflows and automations, launching campaigns, and reporting on what happened, while also supporting the digital presence (website, SEO, social) that feeds the pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support management of NAM's marketing technology stack, including HubSpot, ClickUp, WordPress, analytics platforms, and marketing tools
  • Build and deploy email campaigns in HubSpot: newsletters, event invitations and reminders, follow-ups, award announcements, and one-off sends
  • Own list building and segmentation across our audiences: law firms, insurers, corporate clients, and our neutral panel
  • Stand up lead capture: forms, landing pages, LinkedIn lead forms, and UTM conventions
  • Manage CRM contact lists and segmentation, supporting data quality, deduplication, and compliance practices
  • Keep the data clean: import standards, list hygiene, and a repeatable QA checklist run before every send
  • Support the business development team in HubSpot - sequences, templates, task automation, and logging standards
  • Build and maintain the email template library against NAM's brand standards
  • Create and report monthly performance reporting on marketing initiatives, including campaign and organic performance, and lead generation outcomes
  • Build and maintain dashboards tracking campaign performance, ROI, cost-per-lead, and conversion trends
  • Manage NAM's organic and paid LinkedIn presence
  • Support website operations, including routine content updates and monitoring of SEO, page speed, and conversion metrics
  • Maintain digital asset libraries for brand consistency
  • Document how things are built - naming conventions, workflow logic, and process notes the team can follow

Qualifications
Required
  • 3+ years of hands-on marketing operations, marketing automation or digital marketing experience
  • Working proficiency in HubSpot Marketing Hub. You've personally built workflows, forms, landing pages, lists, and emails
  • Solid email fundamentals: deliverability, subscription types, suppression, and send governance
  • Comfort with data work: imports, deduplication, and knowing when a list looks wrong before you send to it
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Experience with Google Analytics 4 or marketing performance dashboards
  • Experience with WordPress website management
  • Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe
  • Familiarity with SEO performance monitoring and optimization metrics
  • Experience with supporting marketing technology systems and integrations
