Job description

Connor | Pitchford, LLC, a suburban Pennsylvania insurance defense law firm, is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join our growing practice.

We are open to attorneys at varying experience levels and are willing to train the right candidate. Prior insurance defense or civil litigation experience is preferred but not required. More experienced attorneys will have the opportunity to independently manage their own caseload, while attorneys with less experience will receive training, guidance, and support as they develop their litigation skills.

This is a primarily remote position offering a flexible work environment and a supportive, team-oriented culture. Each attorney is assigned a paralegal to assist with case management, discovery, scheduling, and administrative responsibilities. Occasional travel is required for depositions, court appearances, arbitrations, mediations, and trials.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a caseload of civil litigation matters with a focus on insurance defense
  • Manage cases from initial assignment through resolution, with the level of independence based upon experience
  • Investigate and analyze liability, damages, and potential exposure
  • Develop case strategies in collaboration with partners and other attorneys as appropriate
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, and other litigation documents
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Attend court conferences, arbitrations, mediations, hearings, and trials
  • Communicate regularly with insurance carriers, claims professionals, insureds, and other clients
  • Prepare case evaluations, litigation reports, budgets, and status updates
  • Negotiate settlements and assist in developing case resolution strategies
  • Work closely with an assigned paralegal and other members of the litigation team
  • Maintain timely and accurate billing in accordance with client guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • Active Pennsylvania Bar license and good standing
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while also collaborating effectively with a team
  • Willingness to learn and develop litigation and insurance defense skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Civil litigation and/or insurance defense experience
  • Experience handling automobile, premises liability, or other personal injury defense matters
  • Deposition, arbitration, mediation, or trial experience
  • Experience communicating with insurance carriers and claims professionals
  • Familiarity with hourly billing and insurance carrier guidelines
  • New Jersey Bar admission is a plus

What We Offer

  • Remote work
  • Flexible work environment
  • Assigned paralegal support
  • Training and mentorship based upon experience level
  • Opportunity to independently manage cases as experience develops
  • Hands-on litigation experience
  • Collaborative and supportive firm culture
  • Opportunity for professional growth and advancement
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
