Job description

As a Construction Manager in Engineering Services, you'll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.
As a Construction Manager in Engineering Services a typical day might include the following:
  • Provide construction leadership and oversight for complex substation and transmission line projects from mobilization through commissioning and closeout.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for high-voltage electrical systems and utility construction practices.

  • Lead project execution with minimal oversight, including schedule, cost, quality, and safety management.

  • Coordinate closely with SEL engineering, project management, field services teams and contractors to ensure constructability and compliance.

  • Manage and oversee subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews to ensure contractual, technical, and safety requirements are met.

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, utility, state, and local regulations.

  • Act as a qualifying individual for General Contractor licenses in multiple states, as required.

  • Represent SEL with customers, utilities, inspectors, and regulatory authorities.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor other construction and project staff.

This job might be for you if possess the following:
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.

  • Extensive experience managing construction of electric substations and/or transmission line projects.

  • In-depth knowledge of high-voltage electrical systems and power delivery infrastructure.

  • Currently holds or ability to obtain and maintain a TWIC card.

  • Currently holds or ability to obtain General Contractor license(s) in multiple U.S. states.

  • Willingness and ability to act as a General Contractor license qualifier for the company.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% of the time.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety excellence in high-risk construction environments.

  • Prior experience qualifying or maintaining General Contractor licenses for a multi-state or national contractor.

  • Experience supporting large-scale utility or EPC projects nationwide.

  • Familiarity with SEL protection, control, and power system solutions.

  • Residence within approximately 45 minutes of an existing SEL office location.

Work Environment & Travel
  • This position will primarily be on location throughout the United States. While not on project location this role will report to a local SEL office located within the United States. The role requires extensive travel (up to 75%), including extended assignments at construction sites, substations, transmission corridors, and customer facilities.

Pay Range Data
Construction Manager: $115,000 - 175,000 per year. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills
