Job Summary
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- 30% of GTA1 work: Executing concerts & events.
- The GTA1's apprenticeship activities may include, if not being limited to, leading sections, coaching students, directing rehearsal components, accompanying for student groups, and providing musical expertise for the proper care and storage of music and materials;
- 40% of GTA1 work: Preparing for concerts & events.
- The GTA1's apprenticeship activities may include, if not being limited to, leading sections, coaching students, directing rehearsal components, accompanying for student groups, and providing musical expertise for the proper care and storage of music and materials;
- 10% of GTA1 work: Recruiting
- On campus and off ยฟ prospective students, welcoming them as a fellow musician and answering questions as they visit our classes and spend time with our faculty and students;
- 20% of GTA1 work: Mentoring students and assisting undergrad education
- Much of this is within vocal ensembles courses and some may be for MUSC 1000, a required course for all UWG music majors
Required Qualifications
To be considered for a graduate assistantship at the University of West Georgia (UWG), students must meet the following criteria:
- Earned a Bachelor's degree.
- Have applied for and been accepted to a MM program of study at UWG, with a voice or keyboard concentration.
- Be enrolled as a full-time student in a graduate program of study.
- Have maintained a 3.0 GPA in previous and current graduate course work.
- Meet the requirements to be eligible for employment in the US.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in the MM with a voice or keyboard concentration
- License driver
Proposed Salary
- A monthly stipend of $1,000.00 per month
- A tuition waiver, reducing your semester rate to $25 plus mandatory fees as long as you are employed in your assistantship.
