About Tallo:
Tallo is a career discovery and talent connection platform that helps more than 2 million people, mostly students and early-career starters, explore what they're capable of. We connect them with jobs, apprenticeships, scholarships, and learning opportunities.
We believe skills and potential matter more than pedigree. Someone who learned through an apprenticeship or taught themselves should have the same shot as someone with a four-year degree. That's the world we're building toward.
SUMMARY: We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers that make our platform work so we can deliver on our mission. This is a people-first leadership role. You'll invest deeply in the growth of your engineers, build strong cross-functional relationships, and help us ship software that actually matters. You won't be managing a process. • Coach and support the engineers on your team. They should never wonder how they are doing or how they can grow. Regular, honest feedback is the job.
  • Partner closely with product, design, and other technology leaders to set direction, align on priorities, and deliver solutions that work
  • Attract and retain strong engineering talent. Build a team people want to be part of.
  • Keep your team unblocked and moving. Resolve ambiguity before it becomes a problem.
  • Collaborate with other engineering groups on integrations, best practices, and new technologies

What We're Looking For:
  • Five plus (5+) years of experience leading engineering teams, with a track record of developing people and building strong team cultures
  • Clear, consistent approach to feedback. Direct reports always know where they stand and what growth looks like for them.
  • Ability to attract, grow, and retain engineering talent
  • Strong written and verbal communication. Able to influence decisions, navigate disagreement, and present clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing teams delivering production software across the full product lifecycle
  • Understanding of application architecture, integration design, deployment, and testing
  • Ability to clear a background check

Certificates and Licenses: None Required
Nice to Have:
Familiarity with any of the following is a plus:
  • AWS experience - services like API Gateway, Elastic Beanstalk, Aurora, Lambda, S3, and CloudWatch
