We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as a Cybersecurity Specialist, Apprentice – SME to work out of Offutt AFB, NE supporting the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM/J5) 

Job Summary: 

The Cybersecurity Specialist will support mission-critical software modernization, development, and deployment efforts for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center 

This role involves advancing mission planning and execution capabilities for strategic deterrence through systems engineering, Agile/DevOps practices, and continuous integration/delivery methodologies. Contractors will be engaged in evaluating and enhancing the survivability, interoperability, and reliability of strategic weapon systems while contributing to planning documents, test and evaluation strategies, and rapid technology fielding efforts. This is a unique opportunity to work on mission-critical NC3 software and systems that shape national defense strategies and collaborate with diverse DoD and government partners to drive innovation and operational excellence in support of the strategic enterprise. 

Essential Duties: 

  • Identify areas of cyber weakness within programs and develop Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) required in support of information assurance or security necessities 
  • Conduct tests of cybersecurity safeguards and integration of systems IAW established test plans, STIGs, and Cybersecurity Controls. Automate security testing through scripts and macros 
  • Ensure that the design of hardware, operating systems, and software applications adequately address security requirements for the Computing Environment (CE) to include testing cybersecurity mitigations 
  • Development and production of RMF documentation for Secret, Top Secret, and JWICS networks 
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and security tests on networks, web-based applications, and computer systems
  • Conduct network and system security audits, evaluate how well the system conforms to a set of established criteria
  • Analyze policies for effectiveness, make suggestions on security policy improvements, and work to enhance methodology material
  • Document findings, write security reports, and discuss solutions with IT teams and management
  • Perform “black box” and “white box” testing and blue and red team war gaming exercises
  • Perform security and technical assessments on new technologies and generate "Best Practices" for implementation of new technologies
  • Perform reviews of application designs and source code (mainly Java, JavaScript, and C)
  • Establish and sustain information security assurance processes that satisfy complex system-wide requirements
  • Provide cybersecurity recommendations based on evaluation and review of engineering proposals to ensure compliance with mandated cybersecurity requirements
  • Manage the fact finding, analysis, and development of hypothesis, conclusions, production of final reports and presentations 

                            Required Qualifications: 

                            • Apprentice: 0-3 years of directly related experience
                            • Journeyman: 3-7 years of directly related experience 
                            • Craftsman: 7-12 years of directly related experience 
                            • SME: 12+ years of directly related experience
                            • Extensive experience providing cybersecurity support for SMPES 

                                    Education/ Certification: Education:  

                                    • Apprentice, Journeyman: BA/BS in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed; additional years of directly related experience may be used in lieu of education 
                                    • Craftsman-SME: Advanced Degree (MA/MS) in the respective technical/professional disciplines being performed, additional years of directly related experience may be used in lieu of education 

                                      Required Clearance: Top Secret
