Job description

As part of Richardson's global agriculture and food business, our food and ingredients division plays a central role in connecting farm to table through our vertically integrated supply chain. As a leading pasta manufacturer, Richardson produces a wide range of high-quality dry pasta products for diverse markets and end uses.

We currently have an opportunity for a Maintenance Technician at our Winchester, VA pasta production facility, where we produce Ronzoni pasta. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving production, packaging, warehouse, and utility equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations while supporting food safety and quality standards.

Shift Schedule:

This position works a fixed night shift on a 2-2-3 schedule, providing full-time hours with every other weekend off. Candidates must be available to work the assigned night shift rotation, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production, packaging, warehouse, and utility equipment, including electrical systems, motors, control panels, conveyors, and related equipment to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs in accordance with maintenance schedules, manufacturer recommendations, and plant standards.

  • Support equipment installations, changeovers, modifications, and improvements by interpreting schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.

  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain plant utility systems, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressed air systems, and related equipment to ensure proper operation.

  • Accurately document maintenance activities within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Partner with Production, Operations, Engineering, and other departments to troubleshoot issues while maintaining food safety, product quality, and workplace safety standards.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Formal technical training, certification, or apprenticeship in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial manufacturing equipment.

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with PLCs and/or relay logic, motors, motor controls, electrical panels, and diagnostic equipment such as volt/ohm meters and amp probes.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.

  • Working knowledge of industrial utility systems, including boilers, compressed air systems, chilled water, and cooling towers.

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous maintenance experience in a food manufacturing or other industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Forklift or powered industrial truck experience, or the ability to obtain company certification.
