The Opportunity:

  • Perform necessary engineering functions required for the project to include electrical power service and distribution, branch circuits, indoor and outdoor lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, telephone and data infrastructure wiring, audio/visual systems, and miscellaneous electrical and control systems to develop the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications)
  • Advise clients regarding electrical systems and requirements available to meet their needs and comply with applicable codes.
  • Perform lead function in electrical project design including directing tasks to Drafter/Designers and Apprentice Level Engineers to meet the requirements set forth by the Principial Engineer.
  • Perform field inspections to verify existing site conditions and develop project requirements.
  • Effectively coordinate with internal and external members of the design team.
  • Solve problems of a complex nature, with minimal oversight from a more experienced Engineer, in both the design and construction phases of a project.
  • Provide guidance to the construction team to ensure implementation of full design.
  • Perform project management activities as it relates to the electrical discipline including reviewing and updating the budget, preparing and updating a project schedule, and establishing project communications, standards and files as necessary.

Requirements

The Required Capabilities and Credentials:

  • B.S.E.E. from an accredited university or equivalent experience required. Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant electrical engineering design with a preferred focus on building power, lighting, and systems projects for commercial, institutional, and healthcare facilities.
  • Experience selecting equipment and troubleshooting systems.
  • Knowledge of the electrical construction trade, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and of the National Electric Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency in MS Office - specifically Excel, OneNote, Outlook and Word.
  • Relevant experience using Bluebeam and industry specific software such as SKM, Aspen, and/or EasyPower.
  • Proven ability to read and understand both 2D and 3D drawings.
