Position Summary

The Facility and Maintenance Apprentice is responsible for learning and assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair in support of the facility and production equipment. In this role, the technician will assist with a variety of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and controls. Logical-thinking and troubleshooting skills are critical. This position is critical to the safe and efficient operation of the facility.

Position Responsibilities

  • Apprentice position will be trained and responsible for the upkeep of facility needs and assigned construction, maintenance and production projects.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of different building assets, equipment, and machinery to ensure smooth operations to reduce unplanned equipment failures.
  • Keep work areas organized, clean and safe for self, employees, and public.
  • Operate necessary equipment: motor vehicles, hand drills, hand tools.
  • Establish/maintain vehicle/equipment inspection list and records to ensure optimal performance.


Position Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Should be able to calculate and read measurements
  • Understand the importance of attention to quality and detail in high maintenance setting
  • Able to train in basic carpentry, construction practices, standard maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and concrete practices
  • Must be able to communicate professionally and maintain amicable relationships with co-workers, volunteers and visitors
  • Must be able to work in high places & in tight areas while maintaining safe practices
  • Ensure the complete physical safety of oneself and one’s co-workers without exception
  • Show up on time, reliably completing tasks by the deadline, and adapting to changes in deadlines and priorities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions and possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Works well with others to meet team goals and adjusting to important changes
  • Frequent movement, to include walking, standing, bending/stooping, turning, twisting, pushing, pulling, raising arms, lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Performing duties while wearing personal protective equipment
  • Cold/hot environments for extended periods
  • Basic computer skills

  • Sufficient formal or informal training to perform the duties of this position
  • Any combination of general maintenance, building maintenance, equipment maintenance, automotive maintenance, construction, plumbing, electrical
  • Experience in LOTO, Confined Space, OSHA Awareness, Technical School
