Building Management Systems Controls SpecialistDays - Full TimeBell HospitalPosition Summary / Career Interest:The BMS Controls Specialist position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operation of the health system's Building Management Systems (BMS), ensuring efficient facility performance and compliance with regulatory standards. The role supports multiple health system sites, collaborates with departmental leadership, and plays a key part in optimizing system interface and functionality to meet organizational goals. The role provides technical expertise, system configuration, and operational support for multiple BMS platforms to facilitate a safe and effective environment for patients, staff, and visitors.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain hospital Building Management Systems to support department and health system objectives.
  • Implement regular software updates and configure system graphics and interfaces for consistency.
  • Establish standardized naming, alarm conditions, and graphics configurations for all BMS features.
  • Develop and maintain navigation strategies to ensure accessible information for operations and maintenance staff.
  • Manage BMS operations using enterprise software such as JCI Metasys, Automated Logic WebCTRL, and Trane Tracer.
  • Support hardware and software upgrades, including organizational structuring for system efficiency.
  • Provide support across multiple health system sites and ensure operational parameters meet health system policies and codes.
  • Collaborate with department director and other stakeholders to optimize system performance.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Information Technology, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university. OR
  • Associates Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 3 or more years of building management systems or similar facility management platforms experience with a Bachelor's Degree. OR
  • 5 or more years of work experience focused on building managements systems with an Associates Degree. OR
  • 8 or more years of proven technical experience in a similar role without a degree.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 3 or more years of experience in a Healthcare environment.

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license, Kansas Class C or equivalent. MVR results must be in compliance with Health System Safe Driving Program Policy. Candidate must have access to reliable, personal transportation. Vehicle must carry insurance with at least the minimum automobile liability insurance levels required by the state(s) of operation.

Knowledge Requirements
  • Proficiency in BMS programming, graphics, and general computer systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with MS Office.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant codes, regulations, and hospital policies.
  • Effective communication and problem solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
