Accountability:
The Applications Engineer will design, plan, and coordinate the mechanical and software integration for Fives machine tools, controls and processes to deliver technology driven components for a variety of industry sector applications including, but not limited to, aerospace, automotive, energy, oil & gas and heavy equipment.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Essential duties include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Proactively attains a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
  • Works closely with existing and new customers to identify new applications, markets and business opportunities for Fives processing equipment and technologies.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve capabilities of Fives processing equipment based on customer experience and future needs.
  • Identifies opportunities to develop new types of processing systems based on market trends.
  • Reviews and analyzes customer part manufacturing requirements.
  • Prepares customer part simulations and reports using CAD and composite CAM software.
  • Recommends machine type to best fit the application.
  • Stays abreast of technological improvements and innovations.
  • Visit's customer facilities to support introduction of systems and processes, resolve processing issues.
  • Provides market vision, direction, and feedback to management.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations on equipment applications and process capabilities.
  • This position will require frequent travel up to 75-85% to support new and existing business.

Education/Certification/Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • Five or more years' experience in industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Three to five years' experience in machine tool manufacturing.
  • Experience in the deposition of pre-preg material onto layup and cure molding.
  • Experience in automated manufacturing equipment.

Skills:
  • Knowledgeable and proficient using engineering computer aided design tools.
  • Good organizational skills with focus on attention to details.
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of machine tools equipment and processing
  • Microsoft office software proficiency.
