Applications Programmer / Developer

Overview:
The Applications Programmer / Developer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of complex software applications. This role involves defining system scope and objectives, developing detailed specifications, and overseeing the end-to-end software development lifecycle. The position also includes leadership responsibilities, such as directing and reviewing the work of other technical staff and ensuring the quality and accuracy of all deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and define system requirements, objectives, and specifications for assigned projects.
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document software applications in accordance with established standards and methodologies.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications from which programs are developed and maintained.
  • Develop or modify procedures to solve complex technical problems, taking into account system capacity, operating time, and desired results.
  • Conduct thorough quality assurance reviews to ensure system functionality, reliability, and compliance with requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to other analysts and programmers.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion and user satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with users, stakeholders, and team members to define requirements and implement system enhancements.
  • Maintain full technical knowledge of all phases of application systems analysis and programming.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or 4 years' equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience in systems analysis, application design, and software development.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, or similar.
  • In-depth understanding of the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading technical teams or managing software development projects is preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with database management systems and data integration.
  • Knowledge of system architecture, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Familiarity with agile or hybrid development methodologies.
