What you'll do:
The Director of Application Development will lead the strategic planning and technical execution of Lakepointe's church management platform, ROCK RMS. ROCK is an open-source digital ministry platform built on SQL database architecture. This role is responsible for driving platform customization, system integrations, and organization-wide deployment while managing a high-performing development team.
The Director will serve as the primary technical authority for the ROCK platform-ensuring every initiative aligns with Lakepointe's mission, operational goals, and long-term technology strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in application development and a proven record of leading teams that deliver.
Strategic Leadership & Product Roadmap
  • Define and execute a multi-year roadmap for Lakepointe's RMS customization, feature enhancements, and third-party integrations that directly support organizational objectives.
  • Partner with ministry leaders, IT, analytics, and operations teams to gather and prioritize requirements, ensuring platform solutions address real functional needs.
  • Monitor Lakepointe's RMS platform updates, community developments, and emerging plugins; recommend and implement new tools or integrations that expand capabilities.

Project Delivery
  • Oversee end-to-end development projects-from requirements gathering and architecture design through development, testing, and production deployment.
  • Manage application lifecycle activities including software licensing, vendor relationships, team training, and third-party integrations.

Development & Technical Oversight
  • Own the design and architecture of all Lakepointe's RMS solutions, with a focus on scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
  • In collaboration with lead developers, establish and enforce coding standards, conduct code reviews, and ensure compliance with established security protocols.
  • Develop and maintain testing and deployment procedures for platform updates and customizations, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and minimal disruption to operations.

Support & Platform Maintenance
  • Proactively monitor Lakepointe's RMS system performance, identify issues before they escalate, and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Collaborate with the users to produce documentation, deliver end-user training, and ensure effective platform adoption across the organization.
  • Lead the team in structured troubleshooting, issue resolution, and ongoing system performance optimization.
  • Provide occasional after-hours availability to support services, events, and scheduled maintenance windows.
Skills & Experience you've had:
Experience
  • Minimum of 7 years in software development, with at least 3 years in a team management or technical leadership role.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading development teams, managing complex projects, and delivering large-scale application solutions on time and within scope.

Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in .NET, C#, and SQL with working knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience designing and consuming REST APIs and managing integrations with third-party platforms and services.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field-or equivalent professional experience demonstrating the same level of technical depth and leadership.
