The Impact you will have in this role:
As a Director of Software Engineering, you will lead the strategy, development, modernization, and delivery of mission-critical enterprise applications that power DTCC's core business capabilities. You will oversee multiple application development teams driving engineering excellence, cloud transformation, and scalable software solutions across the enterprise.
This role requires a proven application development leader with deep technical expertise, strong people leadership, and a track record of delivering complex software platforms. You will partner closely with Product, Architecture, and Business leaders to translate strategic objectives into secure, resilient, and high-performing applications that create measurable business value.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned application development leader with a proven track record of building and modernizing enterprise software platforms, leading high-performing engineering organizations, and delivering scalable solutions that drive business outcomes.
Your Primary Responsibilities:
Lead & Deliver
  • Define engineering strategy, technology roadmaps, and delivery priorities aligned to business objectives.
  • Lead multiple application development teams responsible for building, modernizing, and supporting enterprise software solutions.
  • Drive execution across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), balancing delivery, quality, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Develop and mentor engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Drive Application Development & Modernization
  • Lead engineering organizations responsible for delivering mission-critical enterprise applications that support core business capabilities.
  • Lead the design, development, modernization, and support of large-scale enterprise applications and distributed systems.
  • Guide architecture and design decisions involving cloud-native technologies, microservices, APIs, event-driven architectures, and containerized platforms.
  • Drive software engineering excellence through architecture reviews, development standards, code quality practices, automated testing, and engineering metrics.
  • Champion modern application development practices across the full SDLC, enabling teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient software solutions.
  • Establish engineering standards, development best practices, and CI/CD adoption across teams.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Architects to deliver scalable technical solutions that meet evolving business needs.
  • Drive modernization initiatives that reduce technical debt and accelerate adoption of cloud and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities.
  • Ensure solutions meet standards for performance, resiliency, security, maintainability, and regulatory compliance.

Partner & Influence
  • Collaborate with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and executive stakeholders to drive strategic technology decisions.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in a way that enables informed business decisions.
  • Promote strong governance, risk management, and operational discipline across engineering teams.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including significant leadership of application development organizations.
  • Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams delivering enterprise-scale software applications.

  • Deep application development background with experience designing, building, scaling, and modernizing enterprise software applications.
  • Proven experience building, scaling, and leading enterprise application development organizations across multiple products, platforms, or business domains.
  • Hands-on software engineering background with experience designing or developing large-scale enterprise software systems.
  • Strong technical leadership in application architecture, microservices, APIs, cloud-native technologies, and distributed systems.
  • Experience leading full-stack engineering organizations and driving large-scale modernization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success modernizing legacy applications and leading large-scale application transformation efforts.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, SDLC, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, and production support.
  • Proven ability to connect technology investments and architecture decisions to business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success leading engineering managers and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance modernization, innovation, risk management, and execution.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading large-scale Java, .NET, or modern full-stack application development organizations.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications and migrating enterprise platforms to cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience implementing microservices, API-first design, event-driven architectures, and containerized platforms.
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, or advanced analytics within enterprise software solutions.
  • Financial services, capital markets, fintech, or other highly regulated industry experience.
