Description

We are seeking a highly organized, creative, and detail-oriented Assistant Designer, Sleepwear to join our growing Jaclyn division. This role will support the Sleepwear Design team in the development of trend-right sleepwear collections across various distribution channels.


Reporting to the SR/Designer, the Assistant Designer will play a key support role in the design process from concept through production. This position is ideal for someone with a strong passion for fashion, a keen eye for trend, and a desire to grow within a collaborative and fast-paced design environment. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to all aspects of the product development lifecycle while contributing to a growing business and building a long-term career within a supportive and highly collaborative team.


Responsibilities

  • Support the SR/Designer in the development of seasonal sleepwear collections from concept through production.
  • Assist in researching and identifying fashion trends, color direction, fabrics, prints, graphics, and competitive market opportunities.
  • Create and update CADs, colorways, presentation boards, and design sketches under the direction of the Designer.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of tech packs and design specifications.
  • Organize and maintain seasonal design files, sample libraries, trim archives, and development materials.
  • Track and manage sample shipments, approvals, and development milestones to support seasonal calendars.
  • Prepare materials for internal meetings, customer presentations, and line reviews.
  • Assist with fabric, trim, print, and color development, including organizing submissions and approvals.
  • Support fittings by taking notes, updating fit comments, and communicating revisions to cross-functional partners.
  • Review incoming samples for accuracy and help maintain sample organization within the design department.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Technical Design, Production, and Sourcing teams to ensure timely execution of seasonal deliverables.
  • Conduct competitive shopping and market research to identify emerging trends and product opportunities.
  • Provide administrative and organizational support to the SR/Designer and Design team as needed.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment while demonstrating a willingness to learn and grow within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of apparel design experience, including internships or relevant industry experience.
  • Previous experience in sleepwear, loungewear, intimate apparel, or adjacent categories is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of garment construction, fabrication, fit, and product development processes.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required; Photoshop proficiency preferred.
  • Experience working with PLM systems is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Passion for fashion, trends, and product development.
  • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow within a design organization.


Onsite Work Schedule

5 days a week in the office


New York Pay Rate $52,000.00 - $62,000.00
