Job description

SUMMARY OF PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: Enforces ordinances and statuses relating to the control of animals for the Animal Control Department; responds to reports of vicious animals and animal cruelty; captures, impounds, feeds, cleans, and disposes of animals as needed. The bulk of the work is performed in the field, driving a department vehicle, and responding to reported violations or areas of need. REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Louisiana Driverโ€™s License and driving record acceptable to Parishโ€™s Risk Manager. Must obtain Level I Animal Control Officer certificate from LACA within one (1) year of employment; Level II Animal Control Officer certificate by the end of second year of employment. OTHER: Must be able to respond to emergency aistance calls and arrive at identified scenes within 45 minutes of call during evenings and on weekends and be comfortable with and participate in the humane euthanization of animals.
