Job Description

The Ares Secondaries team specializes in secondary market transactions of private equity, real estate, credit, and infrastructure investments with AUM of approximately $38 billion as of September 30, 2025. The team is currently looking to hire an Associate, Portfolio Analytics in our NY or West Hartford, CT locations to join our dynamic Finance team of approximately 60 professionals located across our West Hartford, CT, Boston, MA and New York, NY locations.

The ideal candidate will possess investment analysis, accounting, or private equity / fund of funds experience with a basic understanding of fund reporting, basic partnership accounting, and performance metrics. This role will require a dynamic, adaptive, and agile hands-on professional who enjoys a fast-paced rapidly growing environment.

Primary functions and essential responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

The firm is currently looking to hire an Associate to join our dynamic Portfolio Analytics team. Responsibilities include:

  • Work with investment professionals to assist in portfolio monitoring

  • Perform detailed analysis of quarterly investment report valuations, including diversification metrics as well as valuation gains and losses

  • Prepare support for quarterly investor reports, as well as performance returns at a portfolio and fund level (TWR, IRR, Multiples, etc.)

  • Prepare analysis of valuation changes and drivers across portfolio investments

  • Prepare quarterly investor reports with supporting schedules and documentation

  • Process investment amendments/consents with investment professionals

  • Provide data to Investor Relations as part of investor presentations and fundraising efforts

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance

Experience Required:

  • Approximately 2-3 years' experience in investment analysis, accounting, or related field

  • Strong record of academic achievement and will be self-motivated

  • Ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a team

  • Strong financial analysis, writing and presentation skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Strong work ethic, detail oriented and strong organization skills

  • Minimum GPA of 3.4

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$100,000 - $120,000
