Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electronic Component Test Engineer, Radiation Effects Subject Matter Expert to join our team at Amentum. In this position, you will be responsible for assessing and mitigating the impact of radiation on system performance. This will involve analyzing environments, transporting those environments through system enclosures, modeling the interaction of radiation with components and sensors, or testing of microelectronic components. Typical components include integrated circuits, transistors, capacitors, inductors, resistors, diodes, analog circuits, and other electronic components.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on overall system performance.
  • Design and harden systems across multiple radiation effects, including dose rate, total ionizing dose (TID), neutron displacement damage (NDD), and single event effects (SEE).
  • Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure radiation hardening is maintained across the product lifecycle.
  • Assist in test plan development and review
  • Review Reports
  • Participate in Radiation Review Boards
  • Help generate templates and guides
  • Assist in developing training materials and tools for new hires
  • Assist with testing efforts, test station setup and validation and verification efforts
  • Collaborate on program requirements and provide feedback on approach to meet requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or other relevant field.
  • 10+ years of Radiation Engineering, electronic component testing, or related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Please note that US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Nuclear Engineering.
  • 10+ years of radiation engineering experience with the Department of Defense
  • Active Secret or Top-Secret DoD security clearance.

Compensation Details:
$120,000-$190,000 annually
