Job description

The Position

The Power Supply & Audio Amplifier Engineer designs, develops, and validates high-performance power and audio circuits for commercial, industrial, or OEM products. The position will blend deep analog expertise with practical, hands-on engineering.


This role is hybrid, requiring 3 days per week in the office, and 2 days remote.


We are looking for qualified candidates in the Elkhart, IN market.

Essential Functions

  • Power Supply Design
    1. Design and optimize AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies, including linear and switching topologies.
    2. Perform schematic capture, simulation, component selection, and PCB layout review.
    3. Address efficiency, thermal performance, EMI/EMC, safety, and reliability requirements.
    4. Support compliance testing (UL, CE, FCC, etc.)
  • Audio Amplifier Design
    1. Design and develop audio amplifier circuits (Class A, AB, D, or hybrid).
    2. Optimize audio performance: THD+N, SNR, frequency response, stability, and efficiency.
    3. Select and evaluate audio ICs, power devices, magnetics, and passive components.
    4. Troubleshoot noise, distortion, grounding, and layout-related issues.
  • Prototyping & Validation
    1. Build and test prototypes; develop test plans and validation procedures.
    2. Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, audio analyzers, spectrum analyzers, loads).
    3. Perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    1. Work closely with mechanical, firmware, manufacturing, and quality teams.
    2. Support design for manufacturability (DFM), test (DFT), and cost optimization.
    3. Assist with production bring-up and field issue resolution.

Essential Tasks

  • Provides support for customer problems/complaints. This could be in-house, telephone, modem, on site, etc.
  • Prepare project cost and work-time estimates.
  • Review existing electrical engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions or amendments to outdated material.
  • Plan method and sequence of operations for developing and testing experimental electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency in the use of electronic test equipment, comprehensive understanding of electronic circuitry theory.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical PCB design for audio and power circuitry.


Education

Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Electrical Engineering

Experience

Minimum of 5 years' experience in power electronics and/or audio amplifier design

Minimum of 5 years' experience with analog circuit design and analysis skills

Schematic capture, PCB layout tools, and circuit simulation (Altium preferred)

Hands-on lab experience debugging real hardware.


Normal office setting, except when traveling.
