Job description

Overview

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a growing commercial insurance holding company, has an immediate need for an in-house paralegal to work in our litigation department's Cleveland office as an e-discovery paralegal.

Responsibilities
  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions and legal articles to better understand how to respond to subpoenas served upon any entity in the AmTrust group of companies.
  • Collect, reviewed, redact, categorize (e-tag) and produce documents using AmTrust's in-house e-discovery platform in response to subpoenas or in connection with other legal matters.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, adversaries, and team members in connection with the e-discovery needs of AmTrust.
  • Interact with people at all levels of the company as a member of the litigation department.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a deadline-oriented setting.
  • Handle confidential information in a discreet manner.
  • Manage and prioritize completing deadlines.
  • Maintain data integrity in computer platform.
  • Support multiple attorneys and non-attorneys across many facets of AmTrust's business, including responding to subpoenas, litigation discovery requests, internal investigations, regulatory and compliance matters, special investigations, and corporate due diligence.
  • Keeps current with market trends and demands.
  • Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
    • 1-3 years of experience as a paralegal 
    • Formal paralegal certificate
    • 1+ year demonstrated experience in litigation
    • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Experience with document review and production
    • Basic understanding of rules concerning responding to discovery requests generated as part of litigations (subpoenas and document demands)
    • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
    • Ability to work independently and multi-task required
    • 3 + years of experience with an e-discovery system, in connection with litigation
