Job description

Front-End Solutions Architect (AWS)

SG2 Recruiting has partnered with Q2IMPACT to spearhead the search for a visionary Front-End Solutions Architect (AWS) for a newly created position. This is a pivotal opportunity to join a dynamic team and directly influence the company’s next phase of growth. Employment for this position is contingent upon contract award (anticipated in Fall 2026), at which time the selected candidate will formally assume the role. If you are a strategic thinker ready to make a tangible impact, we want to hear from you.

Company Overview

At Q2IMPACT, we deliver innovative, high-impact cloud and technology solutions that support critical Department of Defense (DoD) missions. Our collaborative culture empowers technology professionals to bridge design and cloud engineering, simplifying complex workflows for end users. We foster a DevSecOps environment where security, user experience, and continuous improvement drive everything we build. Join our team to build modern digital experiences that directly strengthen defense operations and national security.

Your Role

As the Front-End Solutions Architect, reporting directly to the Program Manager, your primary mission is to bridge the gap between user-centered visual interfaces and secure, compliant AWS cloud backends. You will establish enterprise-wide front-end architectural standards using AWS front-end framework tooling (such as AWS Amplify and modern JavaScript frameworks like React) and ensure the rapid delivery of high-performing, Section 508-compliant web applications within a secure Department of Defense (DoD) DevSecOps environment. In this role, you will unify user-centered design with cloud architecture, serve as technical team lead and mentor for up to 4 software engineers, guide cross-functional development teams, and collaborate with partners to deliver mission-critical digital experiences across the program lifecycle. This position features an expected effort allocation of 80% to Architecture & Hands-On Delivery and 20% to Technical Leadership & Mentorship.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead Architectural Strategy: Architect and design modern, responsive web applications leveraging AWS front-end frameworks and contemporary JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js).

  • Integrate AWS Cloud Services: Build secure, high-performance integrations between front-end applications and AWS cloud services, including AWS Amplify UI/AppSync, API Gateway, Lambda, Cognito, S3, CloudFront, and DynamoDB.

  • Establish UI Standards & Governance: Define front-end architecture, coding conventions, reusable component libraries, and application design patterns to maintain enterprise-wide UI governance.

  • Champion Accessibility & UX: Partner with UX designers to translate wireframes into intuitive user interfaces that strictly comply with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.

  • Drive DevSecOps & Security Practices: Integrate front-end builds into automated CI/CD pipelines, embedding secure coding standards, Content Security Policies (CSP), secure token management, and static security testing (SAST).

  • Provide Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as technical team lead and mentor for up to 4 software engineers, conduct code/architecture reviews, guide developers, and foster a culture of engineering excellence.

  • Engage Government Stakeholders: Present architectural recommendations and technical solutions to program leadership and DoD stakeholders in an Agile environment.

What You Will Need: Must-Haves (Technical Competencies)

  • Security Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance and eligibility to work in the United States.

  • Technical Experience: At least 5 years of experience developing enterprise web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and AWS front-end framework technologies (such as AWS Amplify).

  • AWS Integration Expertise: At least 1 year of experience architecting cloud-native front-end applications on AWS (API Gateway, Lambda, Cognito, S3, CloudFront, AWS Amplify).

  • Leadership & Mentorship Capabilities: Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead and mentor for software engineers, setting architectural standards, guiding development practices, and fostering technical excellence.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.

  • Containerization & IaC: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or CloudFormation.

  • Testing & CI/CD Tools: Proficiency with front-end testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright) and automated pipeline tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

  • Government/DoD Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with DoD security compliance, DevSecOps practices, and Section 508 accessibility standards.

Nice-to-Haves (Preferred Qualifications)

  • AWS Cloudscape Design System: Hands-on experience or familiarity with the AWS Cloudscape Design System and enterprise UI component patterns for cloud applications.

Core Traits & Operational Skills ("Soft" Requirements)

  • Bureaucratic Patience & Rigor: Ability to navigate strict compliance gates, security scans, and slow approval processes with a "move deliberately and secure everything" mindset rather than a move-fast startup approach.

  • Cross-Domain Translation: Fluency in translating between UX Design priorities (wireframes, usability, Section 508 compliance) and Cloud/Cybersecurity Engineering priorities (IAM, API Gateways, Lambda, vulnerability remediation).

  • Diplomatic Authority: Emotional intelligence and leadership required to enforce coding standards and testing strategies while mentoring team members constructively without being dictatorial.

  • Pragmatic Security Focus: Proactive mindset regarding front-end security risks, including Content Security Policies (CSP), secure JWT token/session management, and SAST vulnerability remediation.

  • Executive Presence: Ability to clearly explain complex cloud architecture and user experience decisions to government stakeholders and program leadership using non-technical, business-oriented terms.

Logistics

  • Position Status: New position (Employment contingent upon contract award, anticipated Fall 2026)

  • Role Focus Split: 80% Architecture & Delivery (Hands-On) / 20% Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Reporting & Team Structure: Reports directly to the Program Manager; Serves as technical lead and mentor for up to 4 software engineers.

  • Salary Range: $190,000 – $250,000 per year (Commensurate with experience)

  • Work Location: Hybrid (Arlington, Virginia — 1 to 2 days per week on-site) at a DoD location

  • Benefits:

    • Comprehensive Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance

    • 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan with Company Matching

    • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Federal Holidays

    • Professional Development, Training, and Certification Allowances

Mental and Physical Demands

  • Mental Demands: Requires strong analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and high emotional intelligence to articulate complex technical ideas to diverse stakeholders. Must be capable of managing competing priorities, navigating bureaucratic compliance gates in an Agile DevSecOps environment, and maintaining high technical rigor during mission-critical deployment cycles.

  • Physical Demands: Standard office environment requiring extended periods of sitting, working on a computer, and communicating via digital tools or in-person meetings. Occasional movement around office facilities and client/government briefing sites may be required.

Related Duties as Assigned

Perform other related technical, architectural, and operational duties as assigned to support program goals, project milestones, and company initiatives.
