Job Description

Overview

The Production Assembler will use a variety of hand and power tools and fixtures to correctly assemble various fire extinguisher parts and pack according to specifications. This position regularly works 5:00 A.M. - 3:30 P.M. Monday through Thursday. Mandatory overtime on Fridays will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to operate powder mills which includes operating PLC screens while running grinders and mixers with the correct ingredients from a blueprint to make powder for fire extinguishers.
  • Cleaning up using industrial style vacuum and hoses, shoveling material into buckets or drums/ moving unloading railcars into a bucket elevator/screw auger under ground making sure material goes to the correct silo for storage of raw materials.
  • Operating forklift to get the correct materials down from racks to set up and operate the powder mills
  • Must be mechanically inclined using standard tools and some power tools/ open minded and willing to learn and progress in a manufacturing environment.
  • Utilize hand tools or machines to assemble parts.
  • Clean and maintain work area and equipment, including tools.
  • Read and decipher schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with company work and safety rules, policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Demonstrate manual dexterity - the ability to precisely assemble parts/assemblies on fast paced production line.
  • Comprehend and follow blueprints, work instructions, EHS, and job procedures, JSA's, and applicable paperwork.
Qualifications

  • At least eighteen (18) years of age and eligible to work in the United States.
  • Able to pass a post offer drug test, background check, and fitness review.
  • Demonstrate high attention to detail and self-motivation skills
  • Willing to train, work, and rotate through all department work stations and work in other departments as needed.
  • Capable of working in seasonal high temperatures and humidity (conditioned air environment).

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 lbs.
  • Capable of standing/walking and performing light physical labor uninterrupted for periods of up to three (3) hour intervals.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, push, and reach during the shift.
  • Frequently stand, walk, climb ladders, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance.

Working Conditions

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those and employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position may involve potential exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold), and the employee must be able to work under stress occasioned by production requirements, personnel, and the needs of other departments, utilizing proper body mechanics. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Will be required to wear a respiratory PAPR and work in fugitive dust / heat in the summer exposed to the elements outdoors and the cold in the winter months.
