Ameren Transmission is dedicated to planning, constructing and safely operating over 8,000 transmission miles across a variety of energy markets. About The Position
Work with a team of transmission planning engineers to achieve the optimum development of the Ameren transmission system; ensure compliance with relevant NERC Reliability Standards; represent Ameren's interests and shape policy development in the ISO, RRO, and ERO arenas; and execute transmission planning duties in support of other departments or areas. Develop expertise in the power system analysis field, perform special studies, and participate in research as assigned.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Perform power-flow, short-circuit, stability, reliability, and facility addition studies of the Ameren transmission system and interconnected transmission systems.
  • Use computer modeling to assess system adequacy and to identify future needs for system improvements.
  • Determine the optimum size, configuration, and timing of new transmission facilities or upgrades to existing facilities.
  • Perform economic analyses to evaluate transmission upgrade and expansion alternatives.
  • Work with others inside and outside of Ameren to reach consensus on transmission upgrades, additions, and new interconnections. Issue engineering documents to communicate conceptual design and initiate detailed design and construction.
  • Participate in studies required to ensure compliance with NERC Reliability Standards and Ameren Transmission Planning Criteria.
  • Participate in NERC and Regional (SERC) standards development and compliance activities.
  • Represent Ameren's interest in committees or working groups associated with MISO, SERC, NERC, and other entities.
  • Provide leadership to committees or groups as needed. Perform special studies and participate in activities related to development of MISO Transmission Expansion Plans.
  • Perform generator interconnection studies and identify system upgrades or additions.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required, preferably with an emphasis in power systems. Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license also preferred. Experience in transmission planning preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Good analytical, project management, communications and human relations skills required. Ability to lead and/or work effectively as part of a team. Must be adaptable, flexible and able to handle multiple, concurrent work assignments.
Compensation Range:
$71,100.00 - $172,200.00
* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.
At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
