Role Overview

Compass Surgical Partners is seeking an accomplished healthcare executive to lead one of our ambulatory surgery centers as Chief Executive Officer. This is more than a traditional surgery center administrator role. As the senior business leader for the center, you'll be responsible for driving financial performance, strengthening physician partnerships, leading operational and clinical excellence, and developing a high-performing leadership team.

Working closely with physician owners, health system partners, governing boards, and Compass leadership, you'll shape the long-term strategy of the center while creating exceptional outcomes for patients, physicians, team members, and our organization.

St. Francis Ambulatory Surgery Center is an ASC located in Midlothian, VA. With two operating rooms and one procedure room, the center will provide high-quality, cost-effective outpatient surgical care across multiple specialties.

Owned and operated in partnership with BSMH and Compass Surgical Partners (an ASC management organization), the center will combine advanced technology with compassionate, patient-centered care in a convenient outpatient setting.

What You'll Do

Lead the Business

  • Own full P&L accountability, delivering sustainable financial performance while balancing operational excellence with long-term strategic priorities

  • Develop and execute strategies that increase case volume, improve throughput, optimize labor utilization, and maximize the center's operating capacity

  • Analyze financial and operational performance to identify opportunities, solve complex business challenges, and improve profitability, efficiency, and long-term value creation

  • Leverage data, dashboards, and key performance indicators to make informed business decisions and drive continuous improvement

  • Partner with Compass leadership to execute strategic initiatives that position the center for continued growth and success

Build Trusted Physician Partnerships

  • Serve as the primary business partner to physician owners, fostering trusted relationships that support practice growth, operational excellence, and long-term strategic alignment

  • Collaborate with physicians to improve scheduling, access, service line development, and the overall surgical experience

  • Partner with Compass leadership to recruit, onboard, and retain physician partners while supporting continued growth of the center

  • Build alignment among physicians, health system partners, and Compass through thoughtful communication, sound judgment, and collaborative problem solving

Deliver Clinical & Operational Excellence

  • Ensure exceptional patient care by maintaining full compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and payer requirements while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement

  • Optimize OR utilization, scheduling efficiency, patient flow, turnover times, and capacity planning to maximize operational performance

  • Drive operational excellence through process improvement, supply chain optimization, disciplined case cost management, and operational standardization

  • Anticipate operational risks, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure the center consistently delivers outstanding quality, patient experience, and operational readiness

Develop Leaders & Build Culture

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing leadership team capable of delivering exceptional results and supporting future organizational growth

  • Establish clear expectations, coach leaders through performance and development, and foster a culture grounded in accountability, trust, collaboration, and ownership

Successful candidates will bring:

  • Experience serving as the senior operational or business leader of an ambulatory surgery center or comparable healthcare organization with full accountability for financial performance, physician partnerships, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, and people leadership

  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within ambulatory surgery centers or comparable healthcare organizations

  • Proven success driving financial performance, operational efficiency, physician engagement, and sustainable business growth

  • Experience building trusted partnerships with physicians, health systems, governing boards, and executive stakeholders while successfully navigating complex organizational dynamics and competing priorities

  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen with the ability to leverage financial, operational, and clinical data to make informed decisions and solve complex business challenges

  • A track record of attracting, developing, and retaining high-performing leaders while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence

  • Executive presence, sound judgment, and communication skills that inspire confidence with physicians, governing boards, enterprise leadership, team members, and external partners

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree or MBA preferred

  • Certified Administrator Surgery Center (CASC) certification required or the ability to obtain certification within the first 12 months of employment
