Job description

Do you want to solve real seller and customer problems through innovative technology? Are you passionate about joining a team of scientists and engineers who use machine learning and AI techniques to create state-of-the-art solutions that help sellers succeed on Amazon? The Selling Partner Growth org is looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join us on our mission of empowering sellers to grow their business while providing a great customer experience.
As an SDE II, you will collaborate with scientists, product managers, and fellow engineers to translate innovative ideas into production solutions that directly impact millions of sellers and customers worldwide. You will own the entire lifecycle of your product - from design through deployment and ongoing operations. You need to be a great translator between business problems and rigorous and scalable engineering solutions, an expert at inventing and simplify, and a good communicator to surface learnings and solutions to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.
Key job responsibilities
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to design, build, and operate innovative products and services that delight our sellers, while participating in technical discussions to drive solutions forward.
• Design and develop scalable solutions using cloud-native architectures and microservices in a large distributed computing environment.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation.
• Build and maintain resilient distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and cost-effective.
• Leverage and contribute to the development of GenAI and AI-powered tools to enhance development productivity while staying current with emerging technologies.
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and design patterns.
• Work in an agile environment practicing CI/CD principles while participating in operational responsibilities including on-call duties.
• Demonstrate operational excellence through monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving production issues.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience leveraging generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency and productivity, with the ability to craft effective prompts and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs in a professional setting
- Experience identifying opportunities to integrate AI solutions into products and services to drive business value

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
