Job description

Summary:
Performs electrical and mechanical up-keep and repairs facilities, buildings and equipment. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and makes necessary repairs. Designs and implements systems as required. Must be able to operate mill, lathe, and forklift, and to perform welding. Assists in and helps manage all recycling and waste water treatment equipment. Works closely with facilities group in all aspects of the job. Assists in setting up and maintaining an ongoing preventive maintenance program for the facility. Maintains an organized, safe and clean work area.
Responsibilities:
  • Perform work in a professional and safe manner, report unsafe work practices
  • Diagnoses, repairs, fabricates, maintains and takes care of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment and facilities in a busy operational environment.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting using rules, calipers, micrometers or other measuring instruments.
  • Fabricates repair parts using machine shop equipment and tools.
  • Dismantles components using hoists, cranes and hand power tools.
  • Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers or other components.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatuses and components by looking, listening and using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Maintains parts and supplies by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing orders and verifying proper receipt.
  • Controls downtime by scheduling and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Reads and understands sketches, diagrams and drawings of systems and components.
  • Assists the operational crew with any other tasks needed such as running machines, processing pipes, performing material movements or administrative duties.
  • Perform inspection, maintenance, and repair of forklifts, overhead cranes, and gantry cranes, ensuring safe operation and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot hydraulic power units (HPU) including pumps, motors, valves, hoses, and filtration systems supporting service center operations.
  • Inspect, service, and repair coil tubing spooling equipment, including level wind systems, drive components, and alignment mechanisms to ensure proper pipe handling.
  • Maintain and calibrate hydraulic pressure testing systems used for coil tubing and related equipment testing to ensure operational reliability and testing accuracy.
  • Inspect and maintain spooling foundations, structural supports, and anchoring systems to ensure equipment stability and safe operation during spooling activities.
  • Support operational teams with safe movement of materials, pipe handling, and equipment preparation when required to maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company safety standards, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge
  • Project management skills to facilitate preventive maintenance programs.
  • Knowledge of electrical tool repair, repair of welding machines.
  • Knowledge of electronic CNC machines.
  • Must be able to read and interpret written and oral instructions to perform assigned duties and provide accurate paperwork and work orders.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and within time constraints.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of basic mathematics, such as addition and subtraction of fractions and decimals.
  • Must be able to write and record information legibly on all documents and logs.
  • Must be able to read and understand training materials.

Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience
  • 7+ years of previous experience in maintaining plant equipment.
  • Experience performing mechanical repairs for different varieties of machines including welding machines, turning rolls, plate bending rolls, plasma cutting equipment.
  • Trade school training or equivalent work experience with a stable work history required.
