Position:Sr. Manager, Category Strategy & Insights - Amazon

What you will be doing:

The Senior Manager of Category Strategy & Insights owns the company's Amazon category intelligence capability, shaping category strategy through advanced analytics and data-driven insights. This role partners closely with Amazon Sales, Brand Marketing, and Retail Media teams to guide business decisions by translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations. The ideal candidate brings deep Amazon expertise, strong analytical rigor, and collaborative leadership to influence decisions across the digital shelf. Serving as a trusted advisor, this individual enables internal teams and Amazon stakeholders to make confident, databacked decisions to drive long-term growth.

  • Own the company's Amazon category intelligence capability, serving as a trusted source of datadriven insights and strategic guidance.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Brand Marketing, and Retail Media teams to lead category performance assessments, address key business questions, and align cross-functional priorities across the Amazon digital shelf.

  • Deliver integrated consumer, category, and Amazon performance insights to inform strategic decisions, shape category priorities, and guide longterm growth.

  • Proactively develop and apply advanced analytics using Amazon data sources and eCommerce tools (e.g., Vendor/Seller Central, Amazon Brand Analytics, Profitero Digital Shelf, and Media Analytics) to surface opportunities, diagnose performance risks, and assess tradeoffs.

  • Translate complex Amazon datasets into clear, actionable recommendations, connecting insights to commercial outcomes such as conversion, share, availability, and profitability.

  • Present insights and strategic recommendations to internal leadership and Amazon stakeholders through compelling datadriven storytelling.

  • Build strong internal relationships to elevate category thinking, accelerate execution, and reinforce best practices across the Amazon digital shelf.

  • Own the development and standardization of Amazon category reporting, dashboards, and analytical projects to enable faster, more confident decisions across teams.

  • Own the maintenance of Amazon and eCommerce analytical tools, including Profitero category definitions, Amazon item hierarchies, and future data connectivity initiatives.

Skills needed to be successful in this role:

  • Ability to translate analysis into clear, actionable recommendations that influence strategy and decisions.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs and prioritize category opportunities.

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, including experience communicating with senior stakeholders.

  • Ability to lead and collaborate crossfunctionally across Sales, Marketing, Media, and Analytics teams.

  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesize complex datasets into actionable business insights.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Business, or Quantitative Field (Computer Science, Applied Math, Economics, Statistics, Analytics, etc.,).

  • Prior experience working directly with Amazon, either at Amazon or in a vendor, seller, or agency-based role.

  • 5+ years of experience in Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG), eCommerce, or omnichannel retail, with direct exposure to Amazon category dynamics.

  • 5+ years of experience in a combination of Category Management, Analytics, Strategy, or Sales with demonstrated experience leading analytical-driven category or growth initiatives.

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

  • Experience working with Amazon data, performance metrics, and platform-level reporting.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for analysis, reporting, and executiveready storytelling.

  • Hands-on experience with Amazon platforms and tools, including Vendor/Seller Central, Brand Analytics.

  • Experience with eCommerce data and digital shelf tools such as Profitero/Stackline/Edge or equivalent.

  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Business Administration or Business Analytics.

  • Familiarity with retail media metrics and performance measurement within the Amazon ecosystem.

  • Experience with syndicated data tools such as Nielsen or Circana.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and/or experience querying large datasets.

  • Experience working with Microsoft CoPilot, or other Large Language AI Models

In New York, the standard base pay range for this role is $114,000.00- $143,000.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to New York and may notbe applicableto other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just onecomponentof the total compensation package for employees.
