Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operational

  • Operate Amada CNC punch press equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load and position sheet metal parts according to work instructions and nesting layouts.
  • Organize completed parts by work order and routings.
  • Perform basic punches and verify dimensions using precision measurement tools.
  • Adjusts tooling, dies, and shims as needed to meet specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Transfer programs from server to equipment and download prints for inspections.
  • Edit and optimize CNC programs for material utilization and cycle time reduction.
  • Execute proper shimming and alignment of punch and dies.
  • Charge time accurately to work orders and maintain paperwork accountability.
  • Report daily production rates for parts and set-up changes


Quality & Documentation

  • Conduct quality checks for hole patterns, slots, and formed features.
  • Track and document completion of parts and work orders.
  • Report missing parts, rework needs, and downtime causes.
  • Review and update documentation related to machine setups.
  • Communicate with leadmen, programming, and engineering regarding part files and setup requirements.


Maintenance & Safety

  • Perform turret maintenance and monitor punch/die wear.
  • Maintain and manage punch tooling and die inventory to ensure operational readiness.
  • Perform basic machine preventative maintenance and area hygiene checks.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area.
  • Adhere to safety and environmental protocols.


Teamwork & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in team meetings focused on workflow improvement , safety, and daily production goals.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior operators. (level 1-2)
  • Support cross- functional initiatives to reduce lead time and improve quality.
  • Perform any other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  1. Highschool diploma or equivalent work experience.
  2. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  3. Knowledge of basic math and measurement principles.
  4. Familiarity with safety protocols in a manufacturing environment.
  5. Physically able to lift top 50 lbs. and stand for extended period of times.
  6. Excellent attention to detail.
  7. Willingness to cross train in other machine operator roles
  8. Willingness to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.


Preferred:

  1. Experience with Amada CNC punch press equipment.
  2. Ability to perform basic program adjustments.
  3. Basic understanding of 6S and Lean principles.
  4. Knowledge of other fabrication equipment. (e.g. shears, press brakes, lasers.)
  5. Minimum 1 year of hands -on machine operator experience preferred.
