Job description

Hexcel is currently seeking an Aluminum Lay Up & Press Operator for our Casa Grande, AZ, USA location. Start rate: $25.75 Per Hour during the New Hire Orientation Period - normally 90 calendar days, then increases to $28.13 Per Hour. This position is on Grave shift (11:00PM to 7:00AM, Monday - Friday + O/T as required) and pays a $1.75 per hour shift premium. Note that the workday on Grave shift is designated by the day the shift ends.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
  • Processes printed aluminum foil into sheets. Stacks sheets into proper sequence to produce a completed laid up aluminum honeycomb HOBE block.
  • Processes aluminum HOBE blocks into bonded aluminum HOBE by controlling the processing of blocks through the high-pressure steam-heated presses.
  • Sets up LUM machine and press to process material in accordance with specifications.
  • Operates LUM and press by controlling the quality of material by making adjustments.
  • Runs tests for the lay up process and press process and maintains records of materials used, rejects, and acceptable materials processed.
  • Conducts or requests in-process checks as required.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year experience required preferably in manufacturing. Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience in the Hexcel Casa Grande facility may substitute in lieu of one year experience.
  • Must be proficient in use of tape measure and ruler.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer data entry function required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Must be able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
