Job Purpose:

The Business Insights Analyst serves as a strategic partner to Marketing, Fundraising, Donor Relations, and Senior Leadership teams by transforming data into actionable business insights. This role goes beyond traditional reporting to uncover growth opportunities, predict future outcomes, optimize donor experiences, and drive evidence-based decision making across the organization.

Leveraging advanced analytics, business intelligence, predictive modeling, and emerging AI technologies, the Business Analytics Specialist will identify key drivers of fundraising performance, donor engagement, operational efficiency, and organizational growth. The successful candidate will combine analytical expertise with business acumen to influence strategy and help shape the future direction of the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Revenue Growth & Campaign Optimization

    • Evaluate and optimize fundraising and marketing campaigns using data-driven insights and testing methodologies.

    • Analyze donor journeys, conversion funnels, and channel performance to improve engagement and conversion rates.

    • Develop attribution and measurement frameworks to assess marketing effectiveness and return on investment.

    • Identify opportunities to increase fundraising revenue, donor retention, and overall marketing efficiency.

  • Advanced Analytics & Predictive Insights

    • Develop predictive models for donor acquisition, retention, upgrades, reactivation, lifetime value, and campaign performance.

    • Conduct donor segmentation, propensity modelling, and audience analysis to improve personalization and engagement.

    • Identify key drivers of fundraising and marketing performance through statistical analysis and data mining techniques.

    • Analyze donor behaviour and giving patterns to uncover opportunities for growth and long-term supporter value.

  • Analytics Innovation & Continuous Improvement

    • Leverage AI, automation, and emerging analytics technologies to enhance forecasting, audience targeting, and organizational decision-making.

    • Identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities through proactive analysis of internal and external data sources.

    • Drive a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement through testing, measurement, and performance optimization.

    • Recommend innovative solutions that improve organizational effectiveness and create competitive advantage.

  • Strategic Business Intelligence & Decision Support

    • Serve as a strategic analytics partner to Marketing, Fundraising, Donor Relations, and Leadership teams, translating business challenges into data-driven solutions.

    • Develop executive dashboards, performance scorecards, and KPI frameworks that measure organizational success and support strategic decision-making.

    • Deliver actionable insights and recommendations through clear data storytelling and presentations to stakeholders.

Qualifications & Competencies:

  • Education & Experience

    • Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Marketing Analytics, or a related field.

    • 5+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, management consulting, strategy, data science, marketing analytics, or related disciplines.

    • Experience influencing strategic decisions through analytics and business insights.

    • Experience working with large, complex datasets and translating findings into business outcomes.

    • Experience within nonprofit, fundraising, consulting, financial services, technology, or corporate environments is considered an asset.

  • Technical Capabilities

    • Business intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker).

    • Statistical analysis and predictive modeling.

    • Data visualization and executive storytelling.

    • CRM analytics

    • Familiarity with machine learning and AI-driven analytics.

    • Advanced Excel and data manipulation skills.

Hybrid Work Policy:

IRC has a hybrid model where in-office requirements are based on distance from our Burlington headquarters or a regional office (Surrey, Edmonton, Calgary and Ottawa). Depending on where you live, this can range from two days a week to one day a month.
