Culmen Interview Senior International SOF Engagement SME. Provides senior-level expertise and advisory support to USSOCOM J3-I in the planning, coordination, and execution of international SOF engagements and partner-nation activities. The position supports USSOCOM efforts to strengthen relationships, interoperability, and operational cooperation with allied and partner-nation SOF organizations. The Senior International SOF Engagement SME serves as a key advisor and coordinator for international engagements, working across USSOCOM directorates, Geographic Combatant Commands, U.S. Government agencies, partner-nation representatives, and other stakeholders to support strategic objectives and international SOF partnerships.

What You’ll Do in Your New Role
  • Provide senior-level subject matter expertise in international SOF engagement, partner-nation coordination, and security cooperation activities supporting USSOCOM J3-I priorities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support bilateral and multilateral engagements with international SOF partners, including senior leader engagements, working groups, conferences, symposiums, and other partner-nation activities.
  • Develop engagement strategies, objectives, agendas, read-ahead materials, briefing packages, talking points, background papers, and other documentation required to support senior USSOCOM leadership.
  • Coordinate international SOF activities with USSOCOM directorates, Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), Geographic Combatant Commands, U.S. Embassies, Security Cooperation Organizations, interagency partners, and foreign military representatives.
  • Advise Government leadership on international SOF relationships, partner capabilities, interoperability requirements, regional considerations, and opportunities to strengthen multinational cooperation.
  • Maintain situational awareness of ongoing and planned international SOF engagements and identify potential conflicts, gaps, opportunities, and requirements requiring leadership attention.
  • Facilitate coordination and information sharing among U.S. and international stakeholders to ensure engagement activities are aligned with USSOCOM priorities and broader U.S. national security objectives.
  • Track engagement actions, decisions, commitments, milestones, and follow-up requirements and provide timely updates to Government leadership.
  • Support assessments of partner-nation SOF capabilities, requirements, institutional capacity, and opportunities for future cooperation or capability development.
  • Assist with the development and coordination of strategic communication products, executive-level briefings, reports, correspondence, and responses to requests for information.
  • Participate in planning meetings, working groups, conferences, and other forums involving international SOF partners and provide recommendations, meeting summaries, and follow-on actions.
  • Provide continuity and institutional knowledge regarding international SOF relationships, engagement history, key stakeholders, and ongoing initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • Senior (O5 or above) Army Special Forces officer with 15 years combined experience in operations and PN development at O6-command, TSOC, or NATO SOF HQ level.
  • Master's degree in international relations or related field
  • Graduate of School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) or equivalent military planning course.
  • 1-year recent (last 5 years) combat/operational experience as part of combine joint special operations task force or TSOC staff
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with coalition SOF partners
  • Joint Professional Military Education Level II or equivalent graduate
  • Current DoW Top Secret clearance and eligible for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access
