At Outside Analytics we're on the ground floor of helping across the future remote sensing ecosystem across all orbital regimes (LEO, MEO, HEO, and GEO)! We build, integrate, and operationally support our customer's emerging space-ground systems to include real-time data processing frameworks, sensor data processing, and data visualization. We are teamed with the most passionate companies in industry, dedicated to bringing best-of-breed capabilities to address our customers most pressing needs.
The remote sensing world is expanding and we're building our team to grow with it. We have an immediate opportunity for a highly skilled Algorithm Developer and State Estimation Engineer who is excited to apply their talents to our customers' challenging needs and who will thrive in a collaborative environment. This position will generally support a combination of direct customer programs as well as internal research and development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in signal processing, sensor data fusion, and filtering techniques. Experience with real-time embedded systems, C++/Python implementations, and Department of War (DoW) projects is highly desirable.
Position is Hybrid - ~3 days a week onsite in Broomfield, CO (schedule may flex depending on customer needs). Infrequent travel to customer sites may be required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and implement guidance, navigation, and control algorithms for various remote sensing applications, including kinematic tracking, data fusion.
  • Design, develop, and implement state estimation algorithms including Kalman Filters, Extended Kalman Filters (EKF), and Unscented Kalman Filters (UKF)
  • Develop sensor fusion algorithms to integrate data from multiple sensors of varying phenomena Analyze observability, stability, and convergence properties of estimation algorithms
  • Design and develop tools and simulations for data generation and algorithm development
  • Participate in technical discovery to understand and translate customer desires and requirements
  • Work closely with software and systems engineering teams using an Agile development process
  • Work with senior systems engineers to discover requirements and shape program execution kickoff Ability to leverage technical expertise to generate a Basis of Estimate (BOE) for a scope of work
  • Create technical documentation and help refine how the organization communicates its technical capabilities to potential customers

Required Skills & Experience
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US DoW Secret Clearance. Due to the clearance requirement, U.S. Citizenship is required
  • BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or similar relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience with relevant application design and development
  • Strong understanding of estimation theory, including ABG Filter, Kalman filter, Madgwick filter, Bayesian estimation
  • Strong understanding of 6 DoF concepts and frame transformations
  • Expertise in sensor fusion and multi-sensor integration techniques
  • Ability to identify, research, and implement sensor data processing and tracking algorithms to meet customer needs.
  • Proficiency in Python
  • Ability to clearly communicate with development team members via verbal and written methods.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Interim DoW Secret clearance or higher is preferred
  • Proficiency in C++ for algorithm implementation
  • Experience with real time processing and embedded systems
  • Experience with FPGA development and deployment
  • General knowledge of Systems Engineering practices, Product Management, and Agile development methodologies
