Job description

As a Senior Data Architect, you will lead solution architecture for a high-visibility enterprise data strategy program, and will be responsible for designing the target-state data platform and explaining it clearly to business stakeholders.
Responsibilities: 
  • Solution architecture for a strategic enterprise data program — current-state assessment through target-state design and roadmap.
  • Designing a governed, AWS-centric data lakehouse: Apache Iceberg on Amazon S3 / S3 Tables, with Trino, Apache Spark, and Amazon Athena for query and compute.
  • Data virtualization/federation (Denodo) to make on-prem Oracle data consumable by cloud sources.
  • Conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling in erwin, to enterprise modeling standards.
  • Working within data governance and architecture governance: data-as-a-product, raw/work/publish zone standards, cataloging in Alation.
  • Enabling the platform's AI layer — Amazon Bedrock, Bedrock AgentCore, MCP servers — plus tools like Dataiku and potentially Databricks.

Qualifications:
  • Senior data architecture experience (10+ years as a guide) on enterprise programs.
  • AWS-centric data platform depth: S3 / S3 Tables, Athena, AWS-native analytics.
  • Hands-on lakehouse: Apache Iceberg, Trino, Apache Spark.
  • PostgreSQL / cloud databases; experience consuming on-prem Oracle sources.
  • Expert data modeling (conceptual/logical/physical) in Erwin.
  • Data governance & architecture governance; modeling standards, zone standards, data-as-a-product / data mesh.
  • Data catalog/governance tooling — Alation strongly preferred.
  • Strong communicator who can explain complex technical concepts to business users and collaborate with other data teams such as actuaries. Comfortable being visible from director level through engineering.

Nice Qualifications to have:
  • GenAI / agentic solutions on Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock Agent.
  • Core.MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers.
